For ancient time, teachers have played an important role in society. Behind every successful person, there is a teacher. Nowadays, both parents are too busy earning money because of the high living expenses, so the teacher is expected to build a strong moral character and provide emotional support for the students. To achieve this, by the definition of John Lembo who is the author of “Why Teachers Fail,” has four qualities: (1) “he can engage students in an open and trusting relationship by his capacity to listen and accept; (2) he is skilled in the use of different diagnostic, planning, facilitative and evaluative procedure and is knowledgeable about their limitations; (3) he is experimental in his general attitude toward identifying and providing appropriate learning conditions; and (4) he can look at his own beliefs, feeling and behavior openly and can find ways to make them more constructive to himself and others.”(Lembo) Dewey Finn is a substitute teacher after he gets fired from his own band in School of Rock. At the beginning, he accepts the job by pretending to be his best friend Ned Schneebly who is supposed to be the substitute teacher of the prestigious prep school, Horace Green. Therefore, my third reason is that students do not succeed in class. Students do not succeed because the first thing they do when they enter class is put their phones on top of the desks. When I was in ninth grade I was one of those students. But, I was not the only one. There were a lot of other students who did the same thing. They have been told repeatedly that college is the key to a well-paying job, and they certainly don't want to support themselves by flipping hamburgers or working at some other dead-end job. I began my quest for the answers behind this question: why some students fail to learn and other students succeed, from my own personal experiences. My brother and I grew up in the same lifestyle; same home, and went to the same schools. It was not an easy childhood and we didn’t attend the best schools. Our parents were not involved with our school work and the examples they set were not positive. I choose a path of sports, education, and integrity. My brother choose drugs and violence after my parents. I succeeded in school and sports and he didn’t. That question of how I escaped that lifestyle and why education meant so much to me goes through my mind everyday. I asked Laurel Wodrich at Woodland Intermediate West, a middle school located in Gurnee, Illinois this same question. Laurel replied with “Not all students fit into the perfect mold of a student.
