Why Should Parents Be Allowed To Spank Children
Argument Essay According to the law, parents legally have the right to spank their children, but they also have certain limitations under which circumstances it is acceptable to whip their kids. Considering the fact that paddling in schools is still legal in 23 states, this law has many variations. As experts further gather and study information about children’s psychological and physical development, more controversy arises on whether parents have the right to beat their kids or not. I believe spanking is a tool used to discipline children that should be classified as corporal punishment; therefore parents should not be able to spank their children.
Recent studies show that physical punishment has detrimental effects to the development of growing youth. According to a study conducted in Canada, whippings even lower the child’s IQ. Beatings errode the connective tissue between brain cells and grey matter. Grey matter is a type of nervous tissue, containing cells and fibers that are critical to the moral and physical development of children.
