Why Lord Capulet Played a Major Role in Romeo and Juliet
“From forth fatal loins of these two foes a pair of star-crossed lovers take their life; Whose misadventured piteous overthrows.” Romeo and Juliet, a play written by William Shakespeare, is a story about teenage love and sacrifices. Romeo and Juliet first lay eyes on each other at the Capluet’s party where Romeo sneaked in and, it was love at first sight. Although their families have been feuding for quite sometime, they decide to go ahead with their marriage the next day. The story Romeo and Juliet would be much different if Lord Capulet did not exist since he is one of the main reasons the Romeo and Juliet met, and fell in love. Without Lord Capulet existing in the story, Tybalt would have never killed Romeo with no regrets. “This, by his voice should be a Montague. Fetch me my rapier, boy. What! Dares the slave come hither. Covered with an aritic face, to fleer and scorn at our solemnity? Now, by the stock and honor of my kin, To strike him dead I hold it not a sin.” Said Tybalt. If Capulet didn st in the story, then Tybalt, the aggressive Capulet wouldn’t have asked anyone for permission to kill Romeo when he saw him at the party. Instead, he told Capulet that a Montague was at the party, and that he was going to kill Romeo, but Capulet told him “Content thee, gentle coz, let him alone. ‘ A bears him like a portly gentleman, and, to say truth, Verona brags of him to be a virtuous and well goverened youth.’ “ If Lord Capulet didn’t exist, he wouldn’t be there to scold Tybalt. Also, Tybalt would go ahead and kill Romeo before Juliet ever met him, which would make the story a lot different.
If Lord Capulet wasn’t in the story, Juliet would have never been forced to marry Paris. “How, how, how, how chopped logic? What is this? “Proud”? Mistress, minion you, thank me no thankings, nor proud me no prouds, but fettle your fine joints against Thursday next to go with Paris to Saint Peter’s Church or I will drag thee on a hurdle thither.
