Why Is Nala A Disney Princess
Why Nala Is Technically Not A Disney Princess

Contrary to popular belief, the sassy, spunky, and cheerful, Nala from Lion King, Lion King II: Simba's Pride, The Lion King 1½, Mickey's Magical Christmas: Snowed in at the House of Mouse, Mickey's House of Villains, and finally, The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar, is not indeed a Disney Princess. This is for a multitude of reasons. The basis for the claim that Nala is not indeed a Disney Princess is because she was not human, not a Disney princess (according to Disney), was not a princess whatsoever, and finally, was not technically a queen either. It is for these and many other reasons that Nala is not a Disney Princess. The conclusion can be drawn that Nala, a falsely proclaimed Disney …show more content…
Only humans can be princesses. This is because of the hierarchy created by human societies. Animals, such as lions, would experience a similar system with dominant or alpha leaders. These two systems are not to be confused simply because of the fact that one system is for humans, while the other is for animals. However, this is disregarded by those who believe that Nala is a Disney Princess. As further confirmed, by a list of requirements a character must go through to be a Disney Princess, animals cannot be princesses. To demonstrate, “This might seem like a no-brainer, but princesses like Nala from “The Lion King” will never be an official princess because of this rule. She checks off the other requirements but just misses it because she was never human.” This evidence clearly furthermore confirms that Nala is indeed not a Disney Princess. With this, and the fact that animals cannot be princesses because of their social structure, it is shown that Nala is not a …show more content…
Before continuing it is important to know and note the difference between a princess and queen. A clear definition is: “Queen and Princess are two words that are often confused as words denoting the same meaning. Actually they are two different words conveying two different senses. Queen is the consort or the wife of a King. On the other hand princess is the daughter of the King and the Queen.“ By understanding the differences between these words completely you can draw the conclusion that Nala was never actually a princess. Nala was not the daughter of a queen or king, however, she was labeled, wrongfully, as a “princess”. This is not true. Nala can be classified as a queen, seeing as she married Simba. However, she is certainly not a princess. Therefore, if she is not technically a princess she cannot be a Disney
