Why Is Michael J Fox An Outlier
The name Michael J. Fox should ring a bell, but that is just his recognizable name. His real name is Michael Andrew Fox. He didn’t go by that because it didn’t have a ring to it and decided to adopt the middle initial of the letter J. He choose that in a tribute to Michael J. Pollard and really liked the sound to that so, he went with J. Michael J. Fox is an outlier because he faced the troubles of Parkinson’s Disease. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 1991 and didn’t tell the media until 1999. He was born June 9th, 1961 and was born in Canada. When he was little, he played ice hockey. He starred on the classic TV show Family Ties. Played the role of Marty McFly in the best movies ever Back to the Future 1, 2, and 3 just before he got Parkinson’s. He did many other shows and movies but these are the two That were one of the popular ones he was in. A little while after at around 2000, he started getting back out there when he played the voice of Stuart Little in the movie Stuart Little. He went on some of the late night talk shows. Just recently, He starred on a show called, The Michael J. Fox Show. Michael J Fox had faced a lot of problems but mainly his Parkinsons. Michael J Fox has a foundation where you can donate to the Michael J Fox foundation. …show more content…
He went to the doctor more than an average person because he went due to his Parkinson’s. After that, when he started getting better, he did little things like voices and late night talk shows. this helped him get right back into the television world once more. After he got a lot better, he was the star of his new show the Michael J Fox show which was not that big of a hit. It only ran for not even one season. It might have not been the best show, but it was a huge mile stone for Michael J

    Mr. Fox states that “The war against Parkinson’s is a winnable war […]” (Page 1 Paragraph 7), and that being a celebrity has given him the “[…] opportunity to raise the visibility of Parkinson’s disease and focus attention on the desperate need for more research dollars” (Page 1 Paragraph 7). He is aware of his popularity, yet abstains from detaching himself from what is the Parkinson’s community, he even mentions that “What [he] wishes to speak to [us] about today has little or nothing to do with celebrity […]” (Page 1 Paragraph 2). With this he is able to maintain his message while still establishing his credibility and personal connection.
