Why Is Karen Krueger Should Be Banned
I disagree with Karen Krueger who didn’t like the book The Fault in Our Stars. I disagree because I think kids should be exposed to this content because this is what happens and one day this activity between the characters could happen to them one day.
Krueger said, ““I just didn't think it was appropriate for an 11-, 12-, 13-year-old to read”. In my opinion, if you don’t want your child to read or watch this, just don’t let him or her watch/read it. Don’t go around banning this book for one person that doesn't like this book! Karen Krueger shouldn’t have of banned this book because children might of had this experience in their life either with them, a friend, or a loved one and now they can’t have that connection with a book. I think this

Overall respect in our society is pretty much overrated and now most people don't really care about what their children are learning in school as long as they're passing and some don't even care if they pass or don't. Children now in days are exposed to pretty much everything whether it's something they should or shouldn't see at that point in their age. It is still important that children under the age of 10 tend to not read those kinds of books because of the violence that is shown, if people keep making books like this later on they will start giving them books showing the real images and the real things that happened in the Cold War. Now in days with all the violence that's going on in the world already affects the children because they see it and they think it is a good thing to do because things like school shootings or any kinds of shootings are ok to happen, so think about what your children are starting to learn in school, and help prevent things like this from…

Although this novel may offend some parents or kids, others enjoy this novel. If some do not approve they have the option too put it aside and not read it. Adults should not take the fun, adreniline rush, sappiness, etc., away from others. I do think that this novel should be read in High Schools because it shows what it means too be self-sufficient and it also portrays that if you really want soemthing then you have to work for it. This novel is very touching and has a good moral behind it. I think that banning this book is unfair to others. You should be able to read whatever you want, whenever you want. If others are offended they don’t have too read it and cans et it aside and leave it at that. I think that the novel was very interesting, it was also very well written. It made me think about my life more and how well I have it and how much I take it for…

Sara Yoest Pederson wrote an article titled “The Family of a Different Feather”. The article deals with the touchy issue of same-sex parents and how to explain that some children have two moms or two dads instead of one of each. Children are curious about things like this but their curiosity does not always last very long. Sara Pederson used a well written children’s book to explain this to her child and suggests that parents do the same. Pederson goes on to say in the article that our society has judged some children’s books as “most challenged and inappropriate material for its age group”. Some of this is based on the “forbidden” same-sex parenting.…

His novels are filled with negative adult influences that manipulate young characters. Disney and Dream-Works also are filled with negative adult influences that are not always noticed, but people argue that Cormier’s literature should be banned. “Cormier is no Disney,” but his stories portray some of the same influences as Disney. Should Disney be banned? Most children's favorite movies or stories, gone? Cormier writes about the real world and does not try to sugar coat it, the only difference between him and Disney/Dream-Works are the endings. So before anyone tries to get his work banned think about how almost every show, movie, or book has some sort of negative influence on other characters. Cormier sends strong messages to his readers with relevant issues and is enjoyed by many people. All of Cormier’s novels are great examples of manipulation through negative adult influences that affect younger characters and show real world problems that will be relevant for years to…

I can’t say I’m astonished by the State Board of Education’s decision to ban “To Kill a Mockingbird”. After all, what can you expect from such short-minded people? Such people that regrettably are put in the position to judge what books are moral and fit to be read by young adults. Is it the book’s display of what really happens in the world, or the book’s lessons of protecting innocence and standing up for what you see as right, that makes this book so disgraceful, that we must shelter young minds from?…

For example in the book it says how hitler envisioned the mass murder of Jews, and a war against France to precede a war against Russia. There should not be books allowed in schools that tell you about how killing Jews was okay. Second off the book has to be banned from schools because of its racist and anti-semitic content. In the book it's explains hitlers racist and anti-semitic vision for Germany. Which has a negative impact on people. This R-Rated material should not be allowed in schools in Wisconsin nor anywhere because of its inappropriate content. These are just a couple of reasons why this book must be banned from…

In the 1970s many public schools in Ohio, Maine, New York, Idaho, and Oklahoma were required to ban the book from their required reading list after receiving numerous complaints. In the 1980s, several schools in New Hampshire and Washington were also challenged and brought to the school board, but the attempt unsuccessful in banning the book. The latest challenge was in 2000, parents with children in a California public school district filed complaints with the school board, calling the book “garbage”, however, the department of education believed that the book was a great learning resource and were not required to ban the book. The negativity stemmed from the racist remarks, violence, sexual remarks, unsavory themes, and foul language. (L.A. Times) (ALA,…

The book teaches about dreams and friendships. It helps envision what it was really like in the 1930's. It shouldn't be banned anywhere. It should instead be taught and understood. By banning the book, students aren't getting an idea of the real history. The book would make students think. It teaches obstacles that everyone must face at some point in their life-time. It should be taught with the themes and language. The book insults women and African-Americans. But it’s not intended to hit specific people. People have to face…

The people who chose to ban this book did have a point, that foul language and violence is not good for a young student to read, but the good in this book should cover up the bad. The foul language in this book was strictly two words, and they were nothing that most students in my school wouldn’t know. As along with the violence, there are video games and movies that have much more intense violence in them, and much younger people view…

Do you want your kids to have bad influences from this book? Do you want them to be exposed to this material? The book, The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton should be banned from this school for teaching kids bad lessons and it is inappropriate. First of all, there is under aged smoking. As well as young kids drinking alcohol. Second of all, there is a lot of violence and fighting, plus there are weapons being used in a bad way. They show people killing people or they might just get hurt.…

Now I know what you’re thinking, if it is for people of all ages and has homosexuality in it, then it’s not for kids. On the contrary, it is targeted at kids. If you have seen this show before you might say it is too dark for kids. I also think this is false. Kids should be taught valuable life lessons, even if it is…

This book first came out in 1978 and it would be considered controversial I think by today's standards. Peter Spier wrote the book telling the bible story. The illustrations are what make the book for example, many of the animals lined up to get on the ark but there was no room. The illustration of the look of the animals, standing huddled together as it begins to rain. I think this would make the sensitive kid cry!…

The Catcher in the Rye. The Scarlet Letter. Huckleberry Finn. Harry Potter. The Diary of Anne Frank. Animal Farm. To Kill a Mockingbird. The Da Vinci Code. The Grapes of Wrath. These literary classics have been vital to the education of many, especially children and adolescents (Banned Books). These great novels both teach important values and educate children about world affairs and classic themes. Unfortunately, each of these novels has been banned at one point in time. In a country where freedom is so adamantly advocated, it is a wonder that an issue like censorship would even come up, that such a controversy would sink its claws into the minds of states’ boards of education across the nation. Censorship is a needless restriction placed on developing minds that need the morals and values that banned books can give.…

This book, in my opinion, was a good book. It’s a book of reality; things that a seventeen year old really goes through. This book shocked me in a few ways. Catcher in the Rye has very inappropriate behavior, horrible language use, and not the best example for others to look up to. I liked the book and think others should read it. I think many can learn from his mistakes and where it leads him. It doesn’t curse as much as I thought but swears about every other line. I can very well understand why the book is banned from schools. This book isn’t one that has a great valuable lesson behind it, where you could fight for it to be read in schools. Catcher in the Rye shows examples of lust, cynicism, and erratic behavior.…
