According to Horton, “4 in 5 Americans believe it’s ‘sometimes appropriate’ to spank a child.” Did you know that two-thirds of American parents spank their children?     If a child does something wrong, how do we as people correct it? In the United States, many families seem to think that spanking a child is the way to correct the misdemeanor that the child has committed. If a child bites another child, should the child get spanked? I believe that if a child does something that is known to be wrong, than the child should have some sort of punishment. If a parent does the spanking out of anger, instead of for the purpose of correcting, than I feel as if spanking should be allowed. I personally was spanked as a child, and I knew if I did something wrong I would get it from my mother. I eventually got to the point where when I talked back to my mother I knew I was getting my mouth smacked and feared talking back.
