Why Is Color War Important
Color war was an amazing experience. We were able to learn that winning is not the main part of a game. We also were able to connect with different people from different grades. Lastly, we had lots of fun. Color war was exciting and educational at the same time. I wish color war was a whole week.

In color war we learned that winning is not the most important thing in life. We were playing girls soccer and at the last few minutes we were losing but we still got points for cheering and being a good sport. Next, we when the boys lost their basketball game Mary our color war captain gave us a speech about losing and that really taught us to be better sports. Lastly, when we won the girls basketball game we shaked hands with the other team and they were so professional at being good sports that they inspired us to be like them when we lose. Losing may be depressing but at the end of the day you realize it was the game that matters. …show more content…
We got to have different boys and girls from all different grades on our team. We additionally got to hang out with people during lunch. In conclusion, we were able to hang out with different people from different teams when we were playing all the sports. Color war brought us closer together and made our school feel like one big family.

We had a fabulous time in color war. We got to play different kinds of exciting games with different people. Next, we had the opportunity to become actors and actresses for that day and watch other people's hilarious skits. Lastly, we got to experience color war breakout in a exciting unexpected way.     Growing up, baseball was everything to me. I watched every single diamondbacks game growing up and learned something new every game. I first started playing at the age of five on a little league team with seven of my best friends. We were inseparable. We practiced together, went to school together and all lived in the same neighborhood. We all aspired to one day win a state championship for our high school. Suddenly we didn’t come to the field expecting to win. We came to the field expecting to lay a whooping on someone, and more often than not that’s what ended up happening. Coming into junior year there was an expectation to win state. Anything else would leave us unfulfilled. We finished with 23 wins and 7 losses and ranked number two going into the state playoffs. We lost in the semi-finals 4-3, which was a huge disappointment and upset. But seven of my best friends and I got together and decided to take this loss to heart. We decided that resilience is better than dejection and vouched to work harder and longer than ever before to decide our own fate in this upcoming season. State playoffs came again and we were 24 and 6, ranked number one going into state. We won the first three games in rather convincing fashion, and suddenly I found myself in the one place I had worked so hard all my life to get to: the state championship game. As we took the field when the game was just about to start, I looked around the stadium at the fans, friends, jerseys of retired major league players. Suddenly it all became so surreal. We played the best game of our season and won 4-1, capping off a dream season and achieving our life-long goal to win a state championship. We decided to take the extra time and effort it took to achieve success, and this showed me that discipline and dedication are the keys to success in any aspect of life, on and off the baseball…

    Breaking the racism barrier in college sports requires just as much bravery. Perhaps one of the most well-known icons in college basketball is the Texas Western men’s basketball team of 1955-1956. Before this team came along, college basketball was strictly a “white sport.” The Texas Western Miners team became the first college basketball team with an all-black starting five. This team was put under the national microscope, and performed to a higher standard than anyone expected.
