Charles Simic writes an article based on his thoughts pertaining to the possession electronics play today: "A Reunion With Boredom". He discusses a time in his life where his dwelling’s noise made it impossible to be bored. “The building was so noisy; there was not a chance of being bored for a second.” (nybooks.com) Noise is the eliminator of boredom. Movies play nonchalantly in homes, music in the car, chatter at the coffee shop; noise creates a sense of placement and purpose. He pulls ideas around the nostalgic potential of boredom. While being bored he is brought to reminisce of younger times when people would marry, read, move to California to escape boredom. Whereas now with the multitude of electronics at our fingertips, one does not…
In the short Article, I’m bored: What your child is telling you by Linda Morgan, children all over are having issue in expressing their thoughts and feeling when a child says that I’m bored. This two word phrases could mean different things to different children at times. Regardless whether at home or at school when a child says I’m bored the child may be in need of redirection of school assignment, parental attention, direction in implanting a task, project, or any other activity ideas. Today’s many researchers and developers express their concerns that technology takes over a child 's extra time. Children and juvenile today instead of enjoying the outdoor playing with friends or having hobby, find themselves caught playing with computer games, and video games like Xbox, PlayStation, and other entertainment systems. Children and teenagers after passing several levels in a game or even moved onto different activities still find themselves bored. So why does boredom persists and what does it mean?…

The concept of boredom is a familiar feeling to many people, however until recently there has been little to no discussion or research into its effects (Kubota, Taylor). Similar to depression or apathy, boredom is a something that people want to avoid as it tends to have a detrimental impact on our daily lives. Atwood’s portrayal of boredom through the narrators experience gives an accurate account of feelings that are often associated with boredom. Atwood identifies the intrinsic root of boredom, the inability to find meaning in a situation, allowing her to provide a practical solution to escape feelings of boredom in our daily lives.…
“IT’S THE DEVIL SPAWN” parents blubber out. “HIDE YOUR CHILDREN. LOCK YOUR DOORS!” This dialogue splurge fills the mouths of the media. Unluckily for the parents, the newest videogame has just sucked their kids into other worlds. This trite statement causes much controversy in today’s society as videogame are making a greater appearance in the world. It is an infrastructure of its own. Countless complaints regard the statement “videogames are bad”, but this account should not go undisputed. With all of the conflicts going on planet earth, it is nice to be able to step outside of reality for a taste of the undiscovered realms.…

Creativity requires motivation and a passion for what you are doing. Whenever I take on a project or goal, I try to do it as passionately, and creatively as possible. I make it enjoyable to do, and fascinating to listen to. For example, if I was given an assignment to…
Leisure is a necessity for people to improve themselves, it should serve useful purposes like acquiring knowledge and personal development. Leisure may include fun, however, fun without improving or learning is the waste of time. According to the Russell, leisure time should be used intelligently. “To be able to fill leisure intelligently is the last product of civilization, and at present very few people have reached this level.” He says. His viewpoint about leisure and mine are remarkably similar. I totally agree with him, leisure should not be filled without any plan or system and people should do useful things during leisure time. Moreover, “The best intelligence test is what we do with our leisure.” Laurence J. Peter says. (Esar, 434) Many people spend their leisure time by resting or watching videos which do not help them to acquire knowledge. Resting is helpful, but the important thing is how people rest. For example, people should rest by…
Boredom can be related to "actualizing need" in many ways. When one is bored their actualizing needs are not being fulfilled. When boredom occurs you are not having a pleasurable time at that moment, and therefore you are not being self-fulfilled. In order to achieve your actualizing needs all of your maintenance needs must all be first fulfilled, and then you can slowly work on achieving your actualizing needs. We must have self-fulfillment, creativity, self-expression, and realization of our potential in order to have our actualizing needs fulfilled. Boredom takes away from us, and our minds, it blocks our interest and enjoyment in different conditions. When you are bored you are self-deprived, and when you feel self-deprived you are unable to have self-fulfillment which makes it difficult to completely achieve your actualizing needs.…
In life we as a human species are given a bag of tools. Everyone’s bag may differ but we all will have one. In the poem Bag of Tools, R.L. Sharpe explained the purpose of that bag. In this inspirational poem he explains that each person’s purpose in this world will differ but as one we will all be working unknowingly to build out eternity. Given these tools you can make your life out to be extraordinary and helpful to the universe. Everyone has a unique talent. With your talent you can build a better life for not only yourself but you can also be the inspiration for someone else. By inspiring someone you can begin a chain reaction and your idea will cause others to express their own ideas. One of my favorite quotes by Danielle Luedtke reads, “Some people dream of great accomplishments, while others stay awake and do them”. This quote sticks out to me because just like this poem it motivates you to use your tools and bring your dreams to life. The same way you can make something of yourself you can also put that bag of tools to waste. Millions of people in the world have brilliant ideas and never bring them to life. I once read a quote by Wille Jolley that stated, “The richest place in the world is the graveyard.” His explanation to this quote was, “In it lie all the people who had great ideas that would have made them wealthy, but they listened instead to some negative person who used the word ‘‘can’t’’ and they believed them. Then they took those great ideas with them to their graves!” With that being said, there is your proof that you can put your bag of tools to waste. So many people in the world put their wonderful talents to waste and over a period of time someone else will eventually come up with an idea that is very similar to theirs and become millionaires. In this world you can be whatever it is you want to be. You can use your tools in any way you want. We are all builders of some sort. The bag of tools you are handed may not be the tools you want but…
Topics or lack of challenge can cause boredom. Students become bored if they already know the topic being covered in class. Gifted student, for example grasp concepts easily and quickly and exhibit skill proficiency beyond their grade level. Boredom in school is also caused by lack of application of knowledge and some students might think that subjects or topics they are learning are not relevant to their lives and future careers.…
Many people in this world live their lives without any aspirations towards greatness. They think that they don’t stand a chance of fulfilling any of the dreams or goals they might have. Their idea of “dreams coming true” are far from their imagination and stick around with the absurd idea of keeping their feet in the ground and stop day dreaming or even think about it. What they don’t know is that by just thinking about it, they’re much closer to their dream than what they thought they were. There are several steps to follow though, steps that will make you reach your goal a lot faster with just using your mind and that are what I’d like to demonstrate you.…
Do you ever have fun when you are just plain bored? Well a person who believes in having fun when you are bored is James Veitch. Mr. Veitch believed that you shouldn’t let the problems in life prevent you from having fun in bored situation, stressful situations or if you’re just frustrated with yourself. I personally agree with Mr. Veitch analysis because I too try to have fun when I’m bored for example I walk funny in front of my parents just so I can make them look at me and laugh. I always do this to my parents because not only do I feel somewhat happy about myself when I’m doing it, I am also making my parents laugh so it’s a double win situation. There are three issues that Mr. Veitch had explained to help…
Without inspiration and motivation we are but mindless drones who scour the earth in search of sustenance and a means to keep life going. The very thought of not having something to inspire and motivate or having someone telling you it’s possible, is just dread and unfair… We are creatures of habit, and to us, staying within our comfort zones is all we live for.…
In generally, people agree that leisure time is important for everyone. We feel tried ourselves after the work, the study, than we want to spend little time for doing what we want. However, everyone like to do another types of activity. Some people say that we have to improve our mind during the free time, another say that relax the mind is more important.…
