Why I Want To Pursue A Nursing Degree
My desire to embark on a nursing course started when my grandfather was admitted in a hospital. I was delighted by the service he had received and the nurses were extremely caring. This is when I thought to myself, this is the profession I would thrive in as I love to help people and look after them. I took part in many activities and work experiences, in order for me to be certain that this was the right career choice for me. I enjoy talking to and caring for residents and developing relationships with them and this is something that really attracts me to nursing.
Currently I am studying Health and Social Care, Medical sciences and Media Studies; studying health and social care has given me an insight of into the career of nursing. I have learnt a variety of legislation and policies relevant to nursing and this has broadened my knowledge regarding nursing and health care, it has helped me put my skills to the test, and I was given the opportunity to do a work placement where I continued to improve my communication …show more content…
The care home specialised in elderly individuals and I provided reassurance to those individuals who were feeling nervous. During my time in the care home I learnt essential skills such as being confident, and the importance of following instructions given to you from a senior member, as there was many difficult situations which required experience from others. The reward of this career made me pull through each day with a smile as l enjoy helping others. My main role was to comfort individuals that were slightly nervous and I provided reassurance to individuals who may be feeling anxious or fearful. During my time at the care home I had a strong desire to ensure that my experience is beneficial, as well as positive as possible the staff was helpful, and I feel that I have gained a better understanding of my career
