Why I Hate Greasers
I used to hate greasers. They had tried to pick up Cherry and Marcia, Bob and my girls. We were so mad that they thought they had the right to do that; they were no-hopers. The night we went to find Ponyboy and Johnny we just wanted to put them back in their place. We wanted the power restored to our superiority, because as typical socs we believed this was our right. Socs will always have more power than greasers because the socs had money and the greasers didn’t. There was a constant war between us and we, the socs, would always have the upper hand.

Bob, David, Stephen, John, and I had been out drinking and we were driving around in greaser territory when, as passed the park David spotted Ponyboy and Johnny. He yelled out to Bob and he turned around immediately. Bob had been itching for revenge

That is until I read how Ponyboy and Johnny saved them kids from a burning church and I was awe struck. I’m not saying socs are good people, but it would take a lot of courage and guts to run into a burning building for people you didn’t even know. I don’t think many people, including me, would have been brave enough to do that. I guess when I looked at what these two did out of pure kindheartedness I compared it to my gang. We would pick on and beat up greasers for fun, we nearly killed Johnny when we bet him up and nearly drowned Ponyboy out cold-blooded revenge. When I realised how terrible and inhumane the things we did for fun were, I decided I didn’t want to be like that anymore. I didn’t want to have a part in the classism around me and just wanted to be friends with these guys. I now understood that I was just a teenage boy, not a soc anymore. I just wanted to be friends with everyone, no matter what class, wealth, socio-economic status, or anything. I noticed that I felt maybe I had a connection with the greaser boys, obviously not in the same circumstances but a connection still the

This could have affected Bob’s personal life, because since his parents wouldn’t say no, he will do whatever he wants and could get into some serious trouble, which eventually happens when he is stabbed by Johnny. Finally, another quote that supports my claim occurs towards the end of that same conversation as before, when Randy says that, “Sometimes I think it's the ones in the middle that are really the lucky stiffs..."(117). Randy is saying this, because he knows that being a greaser isn’t easy, with all the criticism from other people, and he knows that being a Soc is not easy, because of the problems included in it and his own experiences, so he is explaining to Ponyboy, that it is the people who are not Greasers, or Socs, that are lucky. In Conclusion, When Cherry Valance, said “things are rough all over”, she meant that the Socs are not the brutal mean kids that beat up Greasers 24/7, they are real people with real feelings, and real friends, and real family, and most important of all a real life, that does not revolve around the beating up of Greasers. They have real problems in life, that cannot be solved by money, or cool clothes or cool expensive…

Ponyboy Curtis is the main character in this story, and he has 2 brothers, one named Darry, and the other named Sodapop. One night Johnny and Ponyboy are out at the park, and a group of Socs, the nickname for Rich Kids, came by and started beating them up. One of them stuffed Ponyboy's face into the fountain and tried to drown him, so Johnny stabbed him before he killed Ponyboy. The boy that he stabbed died, and so they went to a friend who gave them money and a gun to run away with. They ran away to an abandoned church, and one day Dallas, the friend who gave them the supplies came by and took them out to lunch, and when they returned the church was one fire. Johnny and Pony saved the kids inside, and a piece of wood fell on Johnny and he broke his back. He died in the hospital a few days later, and Dallas couldn't take it so he robbed a grocery store and took out an unloaded gun when the police came, so they shot and killed him. An adolescent’s peers can be the most influential social relationship in their life. Strong peer relationships help achieve two of an adolescents most critical tasks: finding independence from their parents and developing their own personal identities. Therefore, peer relationships are a crucial part of development. The movie “The Sandlot” accurately portrays the role of peers in adolescence by the main character, Scotty, who is transformed by those he hangs-out with. For example, Scotty had never chewed tobacco or even knew what it was until it was introduced to him by his peers. The influence of his peers and the absence of knowledge from his parents caused him to fall to peer pressure and chew tobacco. Scotty’s group of friends would be considered a clique because they excluded others from joining unless approved by the entire group. Also, there was a specific leader of the group of friends in “The Sandlot” named Benjamin Rodriguez, this is another defining feature of a clique. Finally, because the group of friends only hung out with each other and did not associate with other groups, this marked them as being a clique. It is important that young people associate with the right people because studies show that the people you hangout with will be the same characteristics that you adapt. Cliques are a part of growing up and is typically seen among middle and high school aged students, the immaturity of being exclusive and non-inclusive will dissipate throughout life, in most cases. It is important to choose friends…
