Why I Chose Nursing
As an individual, I’ve always found comfort in certainty, which is why from an early age I had decided that I wanted to be a nurse. I spent months on end compiling information on the education required, the various programs schools offered and so on, but as I did more research, I came to discover the reason I wish to pursue nursing isn’t because of the logistics of the programs. Rather, my yearning for knowledge, compassion, and values have driven why I chose the major of nursing.
I have always been intellectually driven, and as I further divulged into articles concerning how to become a nurse I realized nursing wasn’t just a program, but a collection of many programs compiled into one career. The diversity presented in each course is what …show more content…
My reason for going into nursing is to eventually to be able to help others on a regular basis, and I hope to find other like-minded individuals who also yearn to make that their purpose as well. Many talk about doing good in their communities by occasionally volunteering, but nursing, by its very description focuses for caring for others, and it would be such a wonderful experience to be able to do so as an occupation. However, for now, working, learning and studying with others who have the same focus and vision for their goals will better allow me to reach my own, and through the emotional connection that we associate with learning we can learn with the conviction that it is important to fully understand the material as nursing students if we are ever to one day be great …show more content…
These range from working in an ER, to a local clinic, to traveling across the world. This is of extreme importance to me because I’m unsure of the kind of lifestyle that I want for myself, whether I want to remain in my hometown, or travel the country. With a degree in nursing I’ll have full mobility to have any lifestyle I choose, in any setting I choose, all while providing job security, as the job is in ever-growing in demand. Simultaneously, I’m ensured that I’ll never grow tiresome with my work. Each day will offer a new challenge to be met, with new conditions to be met, and the opportunity to learn something both new and different. Therefore, through this degree I’m able to provide care for others, satisfy my need for variety, but most importantly provide stability for myself and a family if I choose to eventually have
