In the video “Why do whales sing?”, the speaker mentions that whales sing to communicate with one another. First of all, due to the fact that light and smell do no travel well in the water, most of marine animals rely on sound, which can travel four times faster in water than in the air. Especially, whales communicate by using sound very skillfully as if they sang.
