Why Do People Become Homeless?
Major past and current events contain such an immense amount of despair that it outweighs the hope that is left in the world. The reasons as to why that is deals with the homeless population, racism, and war. To be homeless means to have no home or permanent place of residence. It affects hundreds of thousands of people today. In the United States alone 750,000 people experience homelessness every night. There are many reasons as to why one might become homeless in a short period of time, these reasons include substance abuse, mental illnesses, poverty, domestic violence, gambling, amongst other things. In most cases, the situation with homeless people doesn’t get better because there aren’t enough places to go to for help. This is one of the many reasons why the amount of people who have just given up on the chances that the world will become a better place increases daily.

Just because we don’t have slavery doesn’t mean that the mentality behind it is gone. The police killed at least 102 unarmed black people in 2015, nearly twice each week. Only 10 of the 102 cases in 2015 where an unarmed black person was killed by police resulted in officer being charged with a crime, and only 2 of these deaths resulted in convictions of officers involved. Racism is not just towards African Americans, it goes much deeper than that. Muslims have also suffered through time with islamophobia. Islamophobia is defined as “dislike of or prejudice against Islam or Muslims, especially as a political force.” The insane amount of hate that goes towards Muslims daily has caused an impact mainly on the women who have been in the fight against discrimination over the years and who have been shamed for believing in what they believe
