Why Do Athletes Get Paid
There's a big controversy right now about athletes (especially in football) who bring in millions of dollars to university while never getting paid. Some say that the scholarship is payment enough. Others say that the athletes deserve a part of the money, and they might deserve it, but they doesn’t mean they need it. Athletes shouldn’t get part of what they make for the college.

Athletes in college may not make money from the games they play, but they don’t really need it either. They rarely have to pay tuition, they don’t pay for room and board, and they probably don’t pay for their food either. They have no need to make money off of their games because everything they need is already paid for. People say they deserve at least part of what they make, but the school uses it to better their school and facilities, so overall it’s being used for the players anyway.

The money they earn is going for their schooling, not to be put in their pockets. It’s like an investment. If they go to a college to play, they get money to go to the college where they can play. And then once they graduate, they are professionals, and they get to earn a lot more money because they were paid to go to college to play. In conclusion, they should not get paid part of what they earn in college for three main reasons. One, they don’t need it to prosper or gain anything. Two, after they graduate, they will make so much more in the big leagues than they ever would in college, so it makes up for it. And last but not least, not getting part of the money is a major investment in their future, and it is more beneficial for them to not pocket
