Why Do Actions Speak Louder Than Words
By living in our own skin, we have a skewed view on the world. We judge ourselves by our intentions, but others by their actions; therefore, we only see through the lens of what we are trying to do, and not through the lens of what we actually do. We avoid the unpleasantness of failure by retreating to our so-called good intentions even though actions speak louder than words. People should be judged according to the results of their motivations because if their intentions were good their actions would support it. Promises are the toughest for people to keep their word (Elitedaily). For example, if you promise your mom that you will have your room clean before she gets home and then you don’t do it, you gave off a contradictory message. You may come up with all sorts of excuses; nevertheless, you made a promise and you didn’t keep. Your mom now has an inkling that she can’t trust you with responsibility. Promises mean nothing without proof. People may not believe you until your word is kept (Elitedaily). Blowing off your promises is a sign of being untrustworthy, and it could become a habit.
