Why Did World War 2 Break Out In September 1939?
Germany had lost everything after World War 1. But why did they try again and start another war only just 21 years after the massive mistake they had made. There are a number of reasons for this. Germany was being dictated by a powerful dictator who would go to extreme measures.
At the time Germany was under The Treaty of Versailles but they still continued to manufacture and design weapons. This really raised tension between the countries but the league decided to ignore it and let them get away with the manufacturing of weapons. The league didn’t know what Germany was planning to do, but they ignored the evidence and talks about Germanys manufacturing of weapons anyway.
Germany had lost land since their fall in World War One, and they wanted it back. They also had the same objectives as last time, to seize control of lands around them once again. Germany’s first move was on Poland. The Germans invaded and attacked the Polish without warning. The League of Nations had heard this news and two days later France had declared war on Germany.
Hitler’s actions had played a big part in World War 2. He had planned and made his way up the ranks to become a dictator of Germany. Hitler thought the Treaty of Versailles was extremely unfair on them and a lot of Germans had agreed with him. He hated the Versailles Treaty and tore it up and forced France to their knees. People said that he had courage to take risks. The German foreign policy was: 1. To destroy the Treaty of Versailles imposed on Germany after her defeat in World War One. Hitler felt the Treaty was unfair and most Germans supported this view. 2. To unite all German speakers together in one country. After World War One there were Germans living in many countries in Europe e.g. Austria, Czechoslovakia, Poland. Hitler hoped that by uniting them together in one country he would create a powerful Germany or Grossdeutschland. 3. To expand eastwards
