Why Did The Civil War Began
The Civil War was one of the bloodiest wars fought on American soil. The Civil War was a fight between the North and the South. This war lasted for four years from 1861 to 1865. This war has many reasons why it began. Some believe that the war started because of slavery. Those people believe the Civil War started on how the North and south had different views on slavery. Also the events that showed something had to be done.
The North thought of slavery was wrong and believed that all men should be equal. However, they did not want to give the slaves any rights like the white men did. Another reason the North did not need slaves was because of the economy that they had. The North had industrial economies which needed some labor. Another reason was because the North did not have huge plantations but they did have more cities in the north. With these reasons the North had no reason to have slaves.
The South was different from the North they saw that there was nothing wrong with slavery. The South saw this because they saw that slaves were inferior to the white man. The reason that the South saw that slavery was normal was because there economy needed slaves. The South had an agricultural economy on cotton a cash crop. The publication of Uncle Tom’s Cabin showed that something had to be done because the book showed the public how slaves were being treated. This made the public realize that slavery is wrong that it’s immoral. The election of Kansas showed that people were willing to come to Kansas from different states to just vote for it to be a slave or free state. This showed how far people were willing to go just to have one more state to a slave or free state. These events showed that this could not continue
