why college
College is not just a choice, it's the beginning of a lifelong journey, one that will shape and determine future choices, decisions and purposes. My parents have always instilled the fundamental groundwork that the start of a successful life begins with going to college. My mother received her Bachelors of Science, and my father served in the Army for six active years. Growing up as a child I knew I had no choice but to go to college. A college education is important to improve my chance at getting my dream job; also to give my family a better life. It will help me to improve myself and become a more prepared person when stepping out into the “real” world.
My college education is my key to a successful and brighter future which is exactly why I choose Stephen F. Austin State University. Initially, I choose Stephen F. Austin State University because of its location, it was three hours away from home. I would finally have the independence I had been craving for seventeen long years .More importantly, when I found out about the Nursing program at Stephen F. Austin State University, I was thrilled. I believe I am in the Pathways Program because I did not prepare to take my SAT’s. I should have taken the test at an earlier date, and studied for the exam. I was under the assumption that I would do just fine without studying since I had taken a prep course a year before I taken the test. I believed that I would remember most of the material and that I would do just fine. I regret not taking the test at an earlier date and not taking the test multiple times if need be. However, I can learn from my mistakes, and experiences and use them for future reference.
My parents and family certainly influenced my choice to pursue a continuation of my education. My family has been a big factor in determining my opinion of college and supporting me throughout school. There isn’t anyone specific who was non-supportive in my decision to attend college. I was knew I was going to
