Waite wore a tan colored glove hoping nobody in the crowd would notice but his plan didn’t work and lots of people noticed. Even though it was thin it helped and he then decided to add pads to his glove for more comfort. Waite admitted he was ashamed but he only had it on to save his hand. The year after Waite’s debut A.G. Spalding and his brothers decided to make a sports company and named it Spalding. Alongside the official baseball Spalding made the first baseball glove.
