Who Is Lee Harvey Oswald?
Lee Harvey Oswald was an American former U.S. Marine who was held responsible for the assanation of president john f. kennedy. Lee Harvey Oswald was born in New Orleans on October 18, 1939 to Robert Edward Lee Oswald and Margerite Frances Claverie. Robert Oswald died of a heart attack a couple of months before Lee was born. In 1944, Margerite moved Lee and his two other brothers to Dallas, Texas. Oswald entered the first grade in 1945 and over the course of the next six years Lee attended several different schools in the Dallas and Fort Worth area. Since Lee was only 17 he could not legaly enlist in the Marines. Lee’s older brother Robert singed the legal documents as Lees guardian granting him the permission. Oswalds primary training in the Marine Corps was under the category of radar operations. This field requires a special level of clearance from a higher authority. A document from May of 1957 stated that he was “granted final clearance to handle classified matter up to and including confidential matter after careful check of local record had disclosed no derogatory data.” Like all marines before and after Lee, he had been tested in the shooting category and scored and outstanding 212. He scored just barely high enough to become a sharpshooter. Over the course of his time while serving in the Marine Corps he was court-marshalled three times. His first offence was because he accidentally shot himself in the elbow with an unauthorized.22 caliber pistol. His second offence was because he started a fight with one of his sergeants who he believed had a role in his punishment. After his second offence he was sentenced to serve a short time in a prison. He was also demoted from Private First Class to Private. The reason behind him being court-marshalled the third time was because he fired his weapon into the jungle one night while he was on patrol.
