Who Is John Steinbeck's Life Influence His Work?
Everyone has their own special quality that makes them stand out. Steinbeck had several key characteristics, but what stood out was his persistence in his writing and his love to learn new things even though he dropped out of college. His dedication to literature has influenced several generations after him. Now, many teachers teach Steinbeck’s writing and biography to their students. Family is one of the most important factors of life. On February 27, 1902, John Steinbeck was born in Salinas, California and was a child of John Ernst Steinbeck and Olive Hamilton Steinbeck. His dad had several different jobs in order to provide for his family. He was the treasurer of the Monterey County, worked at a flour plant, and owned a grain store. His mother, on the other hand, was a school teacher whom heavily influenced Steinbeck’s writing. Most of the time, he lived with his sisters, Esther, Elizabeth, and Mary, happily. He always had a love for the Salinas Valley, which tremendously influenced his writing. Sources say “Steinbeck decided to become a writer at the age of 14 ”(2). It can be concluded that Steinbeck was a bright teen who knew what his destiny was.

Several books have influenced Steinbeck. The Tales of King Arthur were significant due to the old and obsolete words which fascinated him. He wanted to retell the book in a modern form so it could be read easier. Steinbeck received his education from Stanford. He, however, went to college mainly for his parents and later dropped out in 1925 which resulted in no degree.He tried to support himself by working as a construction worker and then a reporter in New York, but he did not feel like he was living a full and prosperous life. This caused him to go back to writing his novels. However, when he came back from New York, he was a caretaker in Lake Tahoe for a short period of time. Perhaps God’s destiny was for Steinbeck to be a writer, not a manual
