When I joined the Air Force, the first step is going to basic training. When I arrived, our military instructor assigned us element leaders and a chief. The girl in charge of the entire flight was airman Hernandez. She was our leader and she had to help all of us succeed in basic training. Why I consider her a successful leader was the fact that she deprived sleep to handle any problems that arrived in our flight. She made sure we were all getting along. If we had concerns, she went out of her way to address them. We were involved in decision-making and we voted for what we wanted. She never put herself before the flight.…
There have been many claims regarding whether or not Anna Anderson was Anastasia. There are several reports both agreeing and denying that this claim is true. Whether it is true or false no one will ever know. There can only be evidence to back up someone’s argument, even if its wrong.…
Elementary teachers are often taught and encouraged to use trade books as the center of a unit. Using this method gives teachers an almost unlimited amount of resources to choose from, there are hundreds of trade books on hundreds on topics across all grade and reading levels. Although this may seem like a brilliant idea at first, there is currently a growing awareness of the truthfulness and misrepresentations within these trade books. They are all different containing different amounts and types of information, so how do we know what is really true or most important? Elementary teachers are required to use multiple informational for this reason, such as primary documents along with the trade books. In this article, the authors examine Abraham Lincoln and Amelia Earhart due to both of them being popular topics within the elementary curricula.…
Amelia Earhart had the courage and independence to do anything she set her mind to. She is well known around the world for her many aeronautical accomplishments. Her bravery and tenacity are legendary. Her attempt to fly around the world is regarded as one of the greatest mysteries in aviation history. Her flight around the world is legendary because of her unexpected and still undetermined disappearance. Amelia broke the stereo type boundaries and let the world know that she wasn’t afraid to be the best female aviator of her time. Her unexpected last flight was her attempt to fly around the world in 1937. Along the journey, Amelia and her partner Fred Noonan made sure to stop to have the Electra checked, refueled, and to tell everyone that they were safe (Candace Fleming 102). On July 2, Amelia and her partner left Lae, New Guinea, and the Electra apparently had 1,000 gallons of fuel. At 8:00 GMT, Amelia made her last radio contact with Lae (Pop Culture Universe). They had short communications with the Itasca, which received the last transmission saying that gas was low. There are many conspiracies to how she disappeared, but the most popular are that she landed on Gardner Island, crashed into the sea, or fell victim to the Japanese during the time of war.…
Amelia Earhart was declared legally dead on January 5, 1939, after the most expensive air and sea search in American history. The first search for Amelia Earhart started on July 2, 1937, and was lead by the U.S Navy and Coast Guard. An additional search funded by George Putnam, Amelia Earhart's husband of six years, was also unsuccessful (“What Happened”). At the time of Amelia’s disappearance, she was one of the world's most famous female aviators. As a result of this fame, expectations were high that Amelia would be rescued. Several weeks of newspapers led the public to believe there was new evidence, later found inconclusive, resulting in disappointment. Many people deduced that Amelia and Fred ran out of fuel a crashed into the Pacific…

Amelia Earhart was one of the most celebrated women aviators, breaking about fifteen different flying records. On June 1,1937 Earhart and Fred Noona, her navigator, began their round the world flight. If completed she would be the second person to finish this flight and the first women to ever accomplish the trip. On July 1,1937, with only 7,000 miles left on their trip, Earhart and Noona took off from Lae, New Guinea and flew 2,556 miles to Howland Island, but they would never reach their destination. After an extensive search party, there was no sign of Amelia or her plane, making the disappearance open for the worlds conspiracy…

The Tuskegee Airmen were the first group of black pilots and their support teams to ever fly for the U. S. Military. Before them, there were never any black pilots to fly especially in combat. The leader I chose is Howard Shultz, Chairmen and CEO of Starbucks. His book is titled Onward: How Starbucks Fought for Its Life without Losing Its Soul. Shultz describes his vision for what a company should be and how he implemented this vision into Starbucks overtime. His vision is value, and unlike many others in his shoes, is not distracted by profit. As many leaders have something of a crucible at some point early on, Shultz has made very little mention of his early life shaping who he is today as a leader but rather his experience with Starbucks and its transformation overtime. At each barrier throughout his and his organization’s career, he learned how to get around it and, in turn, learned how to lead others around it as well.…
Sometimes women are overlooked as the people who can’t make history as great leaders. Throughout history, women have led their societies and changed the world for the better. Amelia Earhart is one of these women. She was born and raised in Atchison, Kansas on July 24, 1897.…
The great leaders of yesterday and today have proved to be very influential throughout history. A leader can be defined simply as someone who rises up and creates a path for those who cannot do it themselves. Samuel Adams led the United States through the process of gaining the new country an identity. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. guided the black community through southern racism, and is responsible for the advancement of civil rights in the twentieth century. Susan B. Anthony was the head of the women’s rights movement to gain female suffrage. All of these leaders share something in common; for without the support of the every day people of the world, none of the three would have been successful in their goals as leaders.…
An example of an outstanding leading lady is Harriet Tubman. Yes, there were a lot of obstacles she had to overcome to have reached her point, but she loved a good challenge. Harriet believed in god so incredibly hard that whenever something would go right, she thought it was god giving her a gift. There were many helpful people who gave service to Harriet Tubman in which she had accepted their benefits they granted to Mrs. Harriet Tubman. Harriet Tubman was a life saver and a fascinating…
• Why was Anne Hutchinson such a threat to Puritan society that leaders decided to banish her? Remember that other dissenters in Puritan society were treated differently. Be sure to consider social, political, and religious reasons. This situation was more complex than a bunch of fanatical or sexist leaders using their power to oppress, so make sure you approach the complexity of the history appropriately.…
