June 7, 2016 Allen Iverson Allen Iverson is a retired NBA player that played in the NBA for 14 seasons. Iverson made the all star team and he was the league mvp in 2001. Allen Iverson also played two different positions, he played shooting guard and point guard. Allen Iverson was born in Hampton, Virginia on June 7, 1975 and he was raised there as well. He attended Bethel high school and he played two different sports there. Iverson played both basketball and football in high school and he won a high school player of the year in both. In the middle of the fight Allen Iverson picked up a chair and he hit a woman in the head with it. Iverson was sentenced 15 years in prison with a 10 year suspension.
After he was released from prison his old high school wouldn't take him back. Since his old high school did not take him back he had no option but to attend and complete his senior year at Richard Milburn High School, a school for students that are ¨at risk¨ and unfortunately he could not play sports there. Luckily, three years of high school basketball were just enough to convince Georgetown University head coach John Thompson, that Iverson was ready for college ball.
Iverson won the Big East Rookie of the Year in his first year at Georgetown and he led his team to the sweet 16 round in the NCAA tournament. In his second year at Georgetown, Iverson helped the team win the Big East Championship and he led his team all the way to the elite 8 in the NCAA tournament, one round farther than the previous year. After his sophomore year at Georgetown, Iverson decide he was going to follow his dreams and join the NBA Draft. This team started to become more and more noticed and they were proving to other teams in the league that they weren’t the team that anybody could beat, but in the 1990-2000 season the Sixers took a huge step in the making of their franchise.
