Is college worth the cost? High school students and their families consider this question constantly. Their decision effects them for the rest of their lives. College is expensive and many students spend their adult lives paying off their debts.
How are teenagers supposed to decide whether college is the right choice for them? If a student is not studying to get a job that requires a college education, then it is logical for them to go to a community or technical college, like AB Tech rather than seeking a four year university, like NC State. Because a community college is on average, about two to four thousand dollars a year whereas, a four year university is closer to twenty two thousand.
Community colleges give students the knowledge and education needed to get higher paying jobs without accruing with huge loans and debts. For someone in search of a career as a doctor or lawyer, a four year university is definitely worth the cost. Because these occupations are rather competitive and require at least four years of college, if not more, an expensive college such as Harvard or Yale is not always the best choice. They usually cost more than double the average four year university and students are not guaranteed a job.

The author states that “someone has to actually do things” like fixing cars, working on toilets, and construction. “You can’t hammer a nail over the internet. Nor can the Indians fix your car. Because they are in India.” However, everyone who goes to college does not necessarily work behind a computer screen. Getting a college education does not mean someone cannot work on cars or build a house. It means someone can get a better knowledge on how to do their job well.
