Where do I see myself in 10 years?

I’m often asked the question: “What do you want to do in college?” or “What do you want to do after college?” and these often weary questions always lead back to the one question that I truly struggle with: Where do I see myself in the future? I've always been a worrying person and despite the “what-ifs” that cross my mind from time to time, I try to remember that there are certain things that I can control and many things that I simply can’t, like, whether or not I will see tomorrow. However, if I could imagine my life without the what-ifs, and if I had complete control over my destiny, it would be fairly simple. Ten years from now I would be twenty-seven years old, graduated from college, financially secure, settling down with the person to spend the rest of my life with, and set within a stable environment both socially and spiritually. As God can cause unfaltering blessings, where you suddenly meet the right person, and they’re beautiful and kind; or suddenly your health improves, and your back stops hurting and you can easily stretch to reach the item on the top shelf; or suddenly you have that incentive to buy your dream house and you can finally pay off the life-draining amount of bills you've accumulated. Though, it’s usually not like that. Our lives are a trial and life is unexpected. As Paulo Coelho said: “We will only understand the miracle of life fully when we allow the unexpected to happen.” So, as I step into this world, realistically, where do I see myself in ten years? Quite honestly, I have no idea! I would like to think that I've stopped worrying and to know that I can look back over the last ten years and feel that I haven’t turned into the emotionally broken shell of a human being that I have seen many people become. I want to see that I've never lost my love and ambition for something better.

Life is unexpected. As Eli Khamarov said, “the best things in life are unexpected—because there were no expectations.” As human nature, we are always looking forward, planning for the future, leaving nothing to the unexpected, instead of just living in the moment and no imagining the next steps we take. Now, this wouldn’t be much of an essay if I said I haven’t imagined my future. So, as I step out into the world, where do I see myself in ten years, as a twenty-eight-year-old? Honestly, I have no idea! Instead of thinking of where I would like to be in ten years, I thought of what I would like my life to be during the next ten years. Below I have listed twenty-eight of the infinite amounts of goals and dreams I hope to accomplish, the qualities I hope to gain or keep, or just those small, unexpected parts of life that should be appreciated more—those moments I would be lucky to enjoy over the next ten years.…

Remember when you were ten years old and your parents asked, “what do you want to be when you grow up?” You’d smile, and without batting an eye, answered doctor, fireman, teacher and so on. But nowadays, you may not be so self-assured. When your professor asks, “where do you see yourself with your career in 5 years?” A worthy answer is often hard to muster. In my opinion, five years may seem like a very long time, but when you understand yourself and have a dreams set, those five years may go by so fast.…

Now, I am able to clearly imagine the position I want to be in ten years. In ten years, I will have completed my bachelor’s degree in Bussiness administration major in financial management. After my graduation at dlsl, I would have gotten a good entry-level job in the financial industry We are thinking too much.
