Where Do You Fit Politically
Where do you fit politically? Before starting this assignment I have always thought that I would be in a party that had nothing really to do with Republicans or Democrats. Why should I relate to something that in my opinion always either has a strong left or right brain about something that could easily be just in the middle. Since 2004 I have been able to vote for whomever I felt could be the President of the United States and since then I have tried to vote for people like Cynthia McKinney (Green Party 2008), Ralph Nader (Independent Party 2004 and 2008). At the time I voted for Ralph Nader because I believe that he would be someone that this Country needs. He has run for the Green party in 2000-04 and for the Independent Party 2004-08. He has many non-profit organizations under his belt and I felt that I can relate to him. That being said I have always imagined myself to be in the Green Party or Independent Party. Once I took the first quiz I learned that I am a Centrist. A Centrist is someone who is open minded and stays in the middle of things without pulling from one extreme to the other. This is sounding more and more like the political party that I want to be apart of. The questions to this one use the Agree, Maybe, and Disagree platform. This is simple to answer especially on questions that could for the most part be “maybe”. This seemed to be too easy to classify someone on literally 10 questions. Good thing this doesn’t impact my life into something that is important like answer these 10 questions and if you get them wrong then you disappear. I do not see these questions to be reasonable for the placement of where someone could be placed on the political map. The second test is the one that shocked me. The quiz seemed to be less of anything to choose as if I am doing a true or false choice to find out my typology. The instructions say “ Even if neither statement is exactly right, choose the response that comes closest to your views.” Some of these

This scholarly article discusses Ron Paul’s presidential run in 2008. The author focuses on determining wether or not Ron Paul, who has had a varied history on what party he represents on his ticket, can be considered a political outsider in the traditional party system or as a political outsider in the third party system. Since Ron Paul has ran as a member of the Republican party and as a member of the Libertarian party it is not an easy matter of looking for electoral consistency. This source will be used as a primary reference for any examples involving Ron Pau. It will also be used as a foundational piece for defining those who run under the traditional party system versus those who run as a third party…

In the Political Typology Quiz, the result says my best fit is Solid Liberal. Solid Liberal is wealthy and highly educated. They strongly support the social safety net such as welfare, unemployment benefit, universal healthcare, homeless shelters, and public transport and take very liberal positions on nearly all issues. Solid Liberals believe that the government should do more to help the needy, even if it means going deeper into debt. It says that they always vote Democratic and followed Barack Obama in 2012 and remain supportive of him today. Another characteristic is that Solid Liberals are very optimistic about the nation’s future. They believe that America’s success is linked to its ability to change, rather than its dependence on long-standing…

It can be argued that political parties now actually have more political differences within the parties than between them this can be argued due to the fact that both the Democrat and the Republican parties have their conservative and liberal/moderate wings. For example the Democratic Party is divided into groupings such as the southern conservative Democrats with conservative views on most social, economic and foreign issues whereas the northern liberal democrats such as the late Kennedy, with liberal views on policy issues, and from 1980s the ‘New Democrats’ as well as Gore’s Democratic Leadership Council, highlighting a variety of differences within a political party in America. Similarly the Republicans have also been internally divided, having a variety of splits to do with social and fiscal conservatives, compassionate conservatives and neo conservatives. Therefore the Republican Party is often split between its more conservative and more moderate wings of the party.…

After finishing the quiz, my Personal Score was 48% and my Economic Score was 32%. Then, my political philosophy results labeled me as a “Moderate Liberal Populist.” Upon reading more into the quiz results, I find that, since my Economic Score is below 40%, it meant that I “believe that a good society is best achieved by the government distributing wealth [and that] the government’s purpose is to decide which programs are good for society, and how much should be spent on each program” (ontheissues.org).…

I do not specifically identify with democrat or republican. I think that both parties have some good things on their agenda and there are also things that I don’t agree with personally, that are on both the democratic and republican agenda. With that being said I would like to consider myself an Independent. I think it’s common for people of my age (19) to not fully commit to one party.…

My label assigned upon completing the quiz was Moderate Conservative which usually represent a mix of both liberal and conservative ideologies. Did you know that majority Americans classify themselves as Moderate Conservative because they are more moderate than conservative or liberal. The meaning that stands behind this label is that Moderate Conservative people strongly believe that the standards of morality and safety should be enforced by the government no matter what. Another belief is that each person should be responsible for there own financial matters, and that free-market competition is better for people than central planning by the government. However, unlike my representative Joaquin Castro who is a Libertarian-leaning Liberal, which is basically the opposite of myself. Mr. Castro believes in tolerance for different people and lifestyles. My representative also believes that a good society is best achieved by the government redistributing wealth and the governments purpose is to decide which programs are good for society, and how much should be spent on…

My political viewpoint has changed dramatically since I was first introduced to politics. I come from a democratic family, where it is strongly believed that it is the government’s responsibility to care for all people and that the government knows what is best for all people. Every voting season, my parents vote for a democratic president and explain to me the reasoning behind their decision. It was not until I was in the tenth grade that I realized that I did not hold the same political beliefs as my parents. After taking several political quizzes and extensively researching the bevy of political parties, I now know that I am an independent. What is an independent? An independent is an individual politician not affiliated to any political…

Of all the parties that were present the one that I am going to vote for is the Ontario Progressive Reformist Party. Some of their ideas that I agree are creating more employment opportunities, Social welfare and environmental protection. Issues such as employment opportunities will effect me in the future as in only a few years I myself would have to enter the workforce, and with there plan on increasing employment opportunities I too would gain from this. An increase in employment opportunities allows me to have more of a choice of what I can become, either a mechanic or a doctor. Another one of their idea is social welfare. Social would benefit many poor families and if i were to ever need assistance from social welfare it would be nice to have one with many benefits even if it’s a failsafe.…
