Where do you feel content?
The place I feel content isn’t the place I ever expected it to be. The very place I think of when I think to where I feel perfectly content is a fire pit behind my house. In my opinion it is in the perfect location. It is surrounded by trees and the pit is made of stones that were found in the woods. There are 3 benches surrounding it that sit perfectly into the earth around them. It looks like a picture cut out from a magazine. I could sit there for literally hours. The first time I realized this was the place I felt content at was a warm summer night. I hadn’t been having the best day and I hadn’t seen any of my friends for weeks because I was always working or just too busy. That night I decided to call a couple people and suggest the idea or having a fire, to catch up and just relax. Sure enough everyone I called came. We all sat at the fire the entire night. We told stories, we listened to music, we laughed, we had heart to hearts and we filled each other in on things that were happening in our lives, the good and the bad. I remember looking at everyone and wishing it would never end. That night I realized who the people were that I care about more than I care about myself. The people who I think of as family. I felt completely content. From that day on the fire pit behind my house became my place of comfort. When I’m feeling depressed or stressed out I’ll go out and make a fire, listen to music and just relax. I’ll think of the one perfect night I had out there with my friends and it helps put me at ease. Even when I’m happy I’ll go out there and enjoy everything around it like the smell of campfire and the pine trees. No matter what mood I’m in I can go out there to sit and think about anything. I never would have guessed a fire pit could mean so much to me, but I’m glad I was able to find a place where I feel content.

I slept many nights at the base of our fireplace. The cinders and ashes of an extinguished fire served as my blanket. I did have my own room, a tiny bit of space that was once a storage room. More often than not, my labors left me too tired to retire to it. Since extinguishing the fire was my last chore each evening, that was where I usually fell…

It is the place where I go after long days of strenuous activity whether it's skiing, biking, or a day on the lake. It's the place to go and grab a warm cup of hot chocolate on a cold snowy day. The cabin offers comfort as well as entertainment at any time. From a wide variety of games such as pool, air hockey, tv, and board games, it is rare to find boredom in this place.. The main living room is spacious with high ceilings and cozy fireplace, perfect for an after ski snack. There are large windows on the upstairs to get an excellent view of the lake. Outside the cabin during the winter, there is plenty of snow to play around with and sled on. In the past, me and my two younger brothers have built sled tracks that go off of cliffs and land on icy patches of snow and who ever would go first would get $5. Of course the things I did back then were not the greatest ideas and usually ended up with a trip to the hospital. Often at night the sky is filled with stars that are visible on the deck of the second floor of my cabin and I have seen several shooting stars zoom across the sky. My favorite part about this cabin is the many memories that I have shared here with my family and relatives over the holidays and the joy that this special place has…

    Honeyrock Camp Narrative

Cuddled up around the heat of the fire, we chuckled while sharing stories about unruly campers. As we chatted over s’mores and hot cocoa, I recounted my experiences. Looking back upon my periods of apprehension, I realized that my worries were small. Through the madness, I found that the community I was immersed in taught me more about myself than I could have ever imagined. I learned that through my own resilience I can conquer any task, handling struggles with grace and resolve. I realized that I was my best self when I was surrounded with supportive people. I came home from HoneyRock with a Chaco tan and lots of bug bites, but more importantly with memorable adventures and valuable lessons. Glancing around the circle of firelit faces, I was assured that this had indeed been the summer of a…

    Important Place

    • 854 Words

As a child the most important place to me was the block in my neighborhood I grew up on. It was a particularly long and very wide street with several pairs of incredibly tall palm trees spread throughout both sidewalks. There was no shortage of playmates; almost every other home on the block had children around my age I could play with. There was also an older generation of teenagers that hung around together. I also had other family members living down the street from my house on the same block. As the children played daily so did the adults. The men of the block all met daily after work rotating from one home to another. They could be seen sitting around every afternoon in the backyard or sometimes front porch joking and laughing, drinking beers, talking about god knows what; it all looked like a great time. The women, the wives, and the grandmothers also all hung out together, but not as organized as the men. The women gossiped and shared recipes. The men drank beers, ate meat and talked about men things, while the kids played. In a sense, we all played and had fun in our own way. My best memories of my life started here, my block in my old neighborhood.…

There’s nothing like being able to lay back and enjoy watching television after a long day. My most comfortable place, as well as many others, is the living room. Contentment Essay

What does the word contentment really mean? Is it the satisfaction with oneself or an environment? Is it the happiness you feel once you have reached a certain stage in your life? We all have a threshold at which we begin to experience a level contentment. The environment where I have achieved contentment has different geographical locations, sentiments, and reasons. Personally, I have only reached contentment after I have achieved a strenuous goal. A backbreaking basketball game won after tears, sweat and pain is more satisfying than achieving a win from an unchallenging opponent. I have taken many university level courses alongside collegiate students throughout my high school career. I feel a sense of contentment in the university setting versus the high school setting. I flourish in my collegiate courses because I am most content in a challenging environment. The university classroom is an environment that my parents never were fortunate enough to experience. An environment that statistics and life told me I would never excel in, however it is the university environment that as a high school student I have experienced a sense of pride and accomplishment.…

The living room can be a place for family to gather, Sometimes I like to read when it’s peaceful and quiet. My family uses our living room for many things such as movie nights, sitting by the fire place during winter and throwing family gatherings. The place is used quite a bit at my house; it’s quite the popular place to be in. usually, when I’m home alone, I often watch television while having a snack. Though sometimes the room can be extremely loud and not a very good place to be in, I still love it no matter what. In my living room, we have a brown recliner chair. On the left side of the chair there is a black lamp beside four pictures that are not currently set up yet. On the right side of the recliner chair stand a table which holds our board games, books, magazines, and letters. By the table there is a chest of drawers which holds are pictures and decorations. Then we have our beautiful soft brown couch which is so comfortable and big. The multicolor ataman in front of our couch is used for decoration, but also as a foot rest. We also have a black fire place with a cabinet on the right side that holds our electronics and blankets. The black television is mounted on the wall above the fireplace. Having such a living room is a nice way to relax when coming home from a busy day. It brings families…

    My Ideal Place

    • 254 Words
    • 2 Pages

My ideal place to be alone with my thoughts is at home in my back yard on my basketball court. It’s not an actual court it’s just sand, dirt, and grass. It’s so country like and it’s surrounded by trees on all its sides just as a peninsula surrounded by water. To just hear the trees swaying back and forth on a windy day. When the sun is not shining because the clouds filled the sky to cover it like a jacket on a cold day that covers your body from the cold weather. It’s so peaceful just to play ball not being serious and just being you on the court. As I get tired of playing I sit on my ball thinking of every little thing there was to think about. Knowing that the ball will go flat with every thought that I thought. I come to this place often, but not much to relieve my stress that builds up on that day or that period of time, and maybe had some kind of work that I had to do that I felt that I couldn’t possibly do at that particular time. This place I go to relieve my stress and it helps me to build up my courage to go back strong on what I had to do, and I accomplish my task. This ideal place is where I will always and forever go too to be alone with my thoughts.…
