The nuns were really strict and I was always worried for my mom and siblings. Nevertheless, I persevered. In school, we were made to believe that education was the key to success. It was the thing that would help us achieve our dreams. My dream was to be an economist and implement policies that would improve the economy. I decided I was going to finish school and work towards developing my country.
My father never came on visiting days but I didn't mind. All that mattered to me was my education. I worked hard to maintain my good grades so that I could get a scholarship from the school in case my father decided stopped paying school fees. I refrained from taking part in activities that would get me suspended or expelled. I didn't "follow the crowd" as I understood that we came from different backgrounds and if I lost my chance to get educated, I might not have been given another chance.
I eventually began to enjoy boarding school. I started worrying less about what was going on at home. I took part in several extra curricular activities in order to gain new experiences and make new friends. I liked to hear about the different places the girls at my school came
