All of us have a lot of questions, and we don’t have the answers to those questions; that can really discourage us. I was in college and that’s how I felt. Consequently, that led to many dismal thoughts, because I assumed that I didn’t serve a purpose. One event in particular gave me an idea, that I could begin the cycle of purpose for myself. Once, I was nonchalantly strolling to my car from class, when I spotted an anomaly in the distance. My car had been burglarized, which made me a mix of complicated emotions. I sprinted to my car, hopefully nothing had been taken. Although, the doors were wide open, only one thing was stolen; my car radio. “Why me,” I screamed at the…

The account of Matthew in the terms of James the Just (also known as the James the Less) is known as the brother of Jesus. He was considered the eldest after Jesus because Mary was a virgin before Christ. The Catholic Church still sees her as a virgin. Eisenman states; “…Jesus’ mother and brothers came to him to talk to or question him. They are four in number, James, Simon, Jude, and Joses”. This gives us the background and focal point to develop an understanding of James as the brother under Jesus Christ.…

The purpose of Christ isin Romans 8:1-3, it is that through Jesus Christ one is no longer under condemnation, one is justified through Him!How does this come to be in a person’s life, by faith? Romans 5:1 tells the believer that they are justified by faith, not only justified but now have peace with God. This is confirmed for those that live by faith in this good news in Romans 10:4. Once again Paul leads us into a deeper understanding of our lives with Christ, now that we are justified, we also have been sanctified.Paul tells us in Romans Chapter 15:16 that it is the Holy Ghost which sanctifies, that is, we have been set apart for something greater than pleasing ourselves found in Romans 8:12-13 and the ultimate setting apart in Romans 12:1-2. Now that one has been born again, how shall that person live? According to the Spirit, not pleasing the flesh or submitting to it. God has provided the possibility for a believer to live graciously through the power of the Holy Spirit, and one can find the ethics for living this life in Chapters 12-14.…

Even some full-blown adults are still trying to figure out their purpose. I was lucky. I knew exactly where I belonged from about the time I was seven up until now, at the decently young age of nineteen. I do not see my path changing anytime soon; in fact, I know it will never change. But, I did not just wake up one day as a child and know what my path was, while that would be impressive. Defining moments in one’s life defines who they are. There were lots of things I experienced in my life that made me realize my purpose, my absolute passion. I had four of these defining moments in my short span of…

But free will gets in the way and choices are made that are not in his plan, so my purpose was not clear to me. I didn't have a goal. Amazingly, God gives us a second chance (or 2 or 20) and in our obedience He shows us what is best for us, what He wants for us. It was in this season of my life, in obedience to Him, that He revealed His purpose to me. He gave me a goal. I was at my women's bible sturdy and talking about God's plans for each of us, when my friend said that she was being called to go back to school and become a Christian Counselor for teens. She explained how her involvement in the lives of the teens at our church had greatly impacted her and the decision to go back to college and "make it official". Many months before this moment, I had been praying that He would reveal His plan for me. I had been looking for a lightning bolt, but He whispered to me, "this is what I have for you." I'm not involved with the teens as my friend is, I knew that wasn't specifically for me. But a Christian counselor, Yes, this was it! I had spent the last few months walking through a tough time with my sister, sharing tears, ideas and counsel. I had become a leader in the women's ministry at my church and grown…
