What Should I Attend College?
Purpose- When I decided to go to college, I had an overall goal of graduating with an associate’s degree in order to have a better chance of obtaining a favorable career. Also, in doing so this would obviously lead to a better financial outcome, rather than if I was working a minimum wage job. This would also allow me to have a much more wider range of career options because many job requirements include some sort of college degree. Overall, by obtaining this goal, I would live a much more comfortable life financially.

Questions- When I first graduated high school, I knew that I was not even close to prepared to attend college. In turn, I had to ask myself several questions: Should I even go to college? What would I get out of it? Will it really benefit my future? When should I go to college? Do I want to have to pay student loans off for years to come? What college should I go to? What type of degree should I get? Overall, these were the core questions I asked myself personally. I decided that instead of going to college right out of high school, I was going to take a gap year before college. This allowed me to think carefully about the answers to the questions I previously listed.

This may seem extreme, however this mindset has gotten me through several struggles and misfortunes life has thrown my direction.…

My first reason is that I wanted to see if college. I say this because college is not for everybody. I have seen an overwhelming amount of people go to college and drop out. For an example, in my family, on my mother’s side, my aunties and uncles decided not to go to college. On the other hand, my family, on my father’s side, went to college and did not get a job based on what they majored in or went to college, but dropped out. So, me being, I wanted to know why did they go to college and drop out. Then, I started comparing their lifestyles together. In result, I started talking to people that went to college to see how it is. This brings me to my second reason.…

What is College for? Nowadays, many people would argue that going to college is not worth investing in and spending your time on unless you want to get a well-paid job afterward. Parents are willing to ensure a good position for their child after four years of dedication and hard work. Although I agree that education is getting more expensive every year, and for some folks it might be a difficult decision to make, I cannot accept the claim that college is solely for getting an employment.…

Why go to college? Why would someone spend thousands of dollars to sit in yet another classroom? My uncle says “people that get a degree make over a million dollars more in a lifetime.” My dad counters that with “the world needs ditch diggers too.” I came to college to start my life, to become an independent man who finds his niche among society. I suppose some people can do that outside of school but I find college to be an optimum transition to the adult life as it teaches practical skills, instills a greater appreciation of the world, and makes one discontent with inequities in the community.…

After I graduated high school I made the decision to not go to college, and get straight to working. My family was disappointed that I made that decision. The stories of Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg and Steve Jobs show that sometimes college would not be the best idea for some people. Even my father, who dropped out of college, is very successful and supports his family wealthily, while not having to do as much work as most people. And according to Pew Research.com three different generations (Boomers, Gen-Xers, Millennials) were asked if college was worth it and about 83% of all those students said that college did pay off even though the cost and investment was really high. And although there is a great amount of money put into college education at the end the outcome is worth more than the investment.…

Many people agree to disagree on college. There are plenty of people who do not attend college, and they find their way to the top. College gives you the extended learning skills that employers will look for when you're finding a job. The authors repeatedly express several statistics, including, “14 percent of people with a high school diploma make at least as much as those with a bachelor’s degree, and 17 percent of people with a bachelor’s degree make more than those with a professional degree.” This statistic also all depends on the major you want to pursue your career in. The choices a student makes about his or her field of study and later in a job can have a substantial impact on what he or she gets out of her degree…
