The Microscope from the Renaissance
The Renaissance was a time period that lasted from the 14th to the 17th century. The word renaissance means time of the great revival of art, literature, and learning in Europe. The word Renaissance come from French/ Middle French. The reason this time period started is because scientist, artist, and italian scholars made a cultural movement. The reason this time period ended is because of the reformation protestant. There were many people and inventions that have a big impact on modern day society. On of the people being Leonardo Da Vinci, and one of the great inventions just so happens to be one of Leonardo Da Vinci's inventions, a flying machine. Janssen was born in the Hague, Netherlands. There is not to much information on Mr. Janssen considering they did not really keep record back then. Mr. Janssen dad is Hans Janssen is said to have played a big role in the making of the microscope considering the microscope was made around the time Zacharias was 10 (Zacharias Janssen is generally believed to be the first investigator to invent the compound microscope. However, because the accomplishment is generally agreed among historians to be dated in the 1590s, most scholars believe that his father, Hans, must have played an important role in the creation of the instrument this is what Molecular Expressions says in paragraph one). Mr. Janssen was married twice. His first wife was Catherine de Haene, they were married from 1610 to 1624. He then got married again to Anna Couget, they got married in 1625. I was not able to find any information on Mr. janssens education. He worked as a spectacle maker with his dad in their own store. One thing that the microscope did not help with is the fact poor people/ lower class could not afford it. It was at first a toy for the rich/ lower class kids. One big contribution is that it helped scientist out with
