What It Means To Be An Adult Essay
I am not an adult, I am a child. To be an adult you have to be fiscally responsible, and mature. I am not fiscally responsible because even though I have a small job where I make spending money, I still rely on my parents for all of my needs. I do not fully understand what it means to really save money because the money I make I just spend on wants, not needs. I have yet to do any of these things. Also as a 17 about to be 18 year old boy I am still not fully mature, I still act like a child quite often. An example of this immaturity is I still expect Christmas and birthday presents, I still expect my parents to pay for me when I am with them, and finally I still sometimes act like a little kid when I do not get what I want. One of the main reasons I do not consider myself an adult is because my lack of fiscal responsibility. One of the reasons I am not fiscally responsible is because my parents pay all my bills. When I turned 16 my parents told me that I would have to pay for my gas to and from anywhere besides school or somewhere they needed me to go. They decided that this was not fair and ended up paying for all of my gas, and with it taking more fiscal responsibility from me. I also lack fiscal responsibility when it comes to handling my

An example of this irresponsibility is I still think that it is funny to make weird noises in class, and still do not listen to things that trustworthy people tell me. This English class is a perfect example my irresponsibility, because I put off all the work to the end of the semester even though my parents told me not to. Putting off all of this work has now made the last week of this class miserable for me. Although I am fully physically matured, my mind is definitely not mature enough to be considered an adult. This is another reason on top of my fiscal irresponsibility that holds me back from being considered an
