Student Activity:

Students are to produce written work in support of each of the statements listed below:

1. What is the similarity between the function of oil in a car engine and good communication in industry?

2. It has been said that money can be used to satisfy man’s basic needs and wants. Discuss this statement.

3. Identify the similarities and differences between Maslow’s theory of motivation and Alderfer’s theory of motivation.

4. Discuss how the size and function of an organisation is likely to affect its structure and communications.

5. Compare the role of a Manager with that of a Leader.

MARKING CRITERIA:

20 marks per task which allows a maximum of 100 marks to be awarded. This will then be weighted to calculate the 75% mark. Minimum guided number of words is 2500 in total.

5 x 20 marks _______________ 100 marks / 75% _______________

NB. Any individual submitting his / her work after the due deadline date without a reasonable excuse can only hope to achieve up to a maximum of 40% for this assignment. No marks will be awarded if the assignment is submitted two weeks after the deadline date.
