What Is The Purpose Of The Movie Ex Machina
Today, there are other beings out in the world that are considered to be very smart. Those beings, are very close to us, yet far. Every day we hold the "Devices" in our hands and they have been installed with some of the smartest programs. For example Siri, from the iPhones 4s and above, are one of the programs. This type of program is called artificial intelligence (AI), in other words technology with brains. Though Siri isn't developed to the point of potentially having human thoughts or emotions, the movie Ex Machina portrays future AI Robots could possibly end up replacing humans in the very world they live in right now. Ex Machina was a fantastic movie that explores how humans think through AI Robots, thus receiving 4 out 5 stars. Ex …show more content…
Thus, creating AIs could be of great help, but if AIs have a brain that is similar to humans, AIs can one day replace humans as they are brighter than those who created them. The script for this film seemed to make it more of a suspense film as well. Cayleb, portrayed by Domhnall Gleeson, speaks in a casual, intelligent, and awkward tone, but very nervous tone through some parts of the movie when Nathan and Ava asks him some questions to where he does not know how to answer. Nathan, portrayed by Oscar Isaac, is given lines to speak in a very careless and casual way, but at the same time keeping his authority as an employer of Cayleb, which in terms keeps audiences wondering what is going through that man's mind. Ava, portrayed by Alicia Vikander, needed to speak in a intelligent way as well as speaking with a robotic tone to make her sound just like how an AI would sound like. As for Kiyoko, portrayed by Sonoya Mizuno, had no lines, but needed to show no facial expressions throughout acting in order to relevantly keep Nathan more suspicious. Watching actors and actresses who I am unfamiliar with, I felt that they did an excellent job of portraying the characters of the film. Though the acting was great, the pace for the storyline development …show more content…
As I sat down in the theaters the seating was quite spacious and comfortable since there wasn't many people watching the movie. Halfway, through the movie the air conditioner in the theater started going on and off every 10 minutes, which made the movie experience a bit disappointing, since I couldn't hear some parts of the film. Also, because there was a man who was sleeping and breathing heavily, it made it harder to hear some parts of the film. I would recommend this movie to anyone that is 17 and above, so they know that there are people out there who take advantage of you, but at the same time explore deep into what technology has advanced

Two weeks ago, I saw the movie Ex Machina in my English class. The movie showed us the impact of new technology on humans. After watching the movie, I ask myself if we were victims of the progress. Personally, I think we are. We are victims of progress for intelligence and privacy issues.…

This movie was very interesting and kept me on the edge of my seat in anticipation. While the movie was sometimes difficult to follow, it worked well for the story. Because of the fast pace, I was forced to watch closely and pay attention to details. While the acting was not superb, Spacey and Linney did give very believable performances. The cinematography of the film flowed together smoothly and helped in distinguishing between present time and flashback shots.…

Artificial Intelligence is becoming to be a rising topic, and fiction movies about it are starting to seem more like an actual possibility in the future. Two movies that I watched about this topic, are the Blade Runner, and Wall-e. They both have many common elements, and of course have their differences. Overall, they both give viewers an idea of what the future could hold and the dangers along with it. The movies shared differences in their artificial intelligence, therefore afforded different rights, but surprisingly came from similar societies.…

Most researchers of artificial intelligence say that AI is unlikely to show emotions considered to be human like hate or love that spurs humans to make bad or hurtful decisions. So, without these emotions AI is unlikely to act in dangerous manners. One situation could occur where the AI’s are programmed to help you but it can do it in a manner that humans find dangerous. The problem that Singer hints at is that if an artificial intelligence surpasses the intelligence of a human, we don’t know if it will decide that it doesn’t want to be turned off and because it is more intelligent than a human, then it could not be turned off by a human (par. 6). Teaching AI to act ethically can help make sure that AI actions are aligned with human interests. The article “Benefits and Risks of Artificial Intelligence” provides a fact that while humans worry that AI will just turn “evil” what will really happen is that AI will be capable but just have goals that are misaligned with humans. This just strengthens the fact that in the time it takes to turn AI into a reality, we must find a way to teach them how to act ethically without turning “evil” or…

One of the most important existentialist to ever live was a woman named Simone De Beauvoir. Beauvoir was a French existentialist philosopher whose work was based around the ideas of immanence, transcendence and otherness. Immanence is when one shows signs of who they could be. Transcendence is your ability to shape yourself into want you want to be. Otherness is when someone is treated poorly because they are different. These ideas are displayed throughout the movie, "Ex Machina" on numerous occasions. The film begins with Caleb Smith, young programmer, who is selected to participate in a ground-breaking experiment of a lifetime, a week-long retreat to the estate of Nathan Bateman, the CEO of a software company named Blue Book. Once Caleb arrives…

I have always wanted to see this movie, but never had the time to get around to it. There was so much hype going around about it. I must say that I am glad I sat down and watched it in its entirety. My first opinion was totally wrong.…

First of all, it is evident that the very detailed description cannot translate to cinematic form. To replicate this, the suspense is portrayed through the faces of the young actors who are, in my view, simply not talented enough to be able to properly bring out our emotions with the poorly performed dialog.…

Within the realm of Artificial Intelligence there are several secs which are responsible for making up that which is A.I. Normally when an individual thinks of Artificial Intelligence a few things come to mind such as the HAL 9000 system, known as “the inimitable star of the classic Kubrick and Clarke film ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’”(Picard 2001), others will think of the movie “Blade Runner”, this film featured an alternate future where a group of individuals were responsible for tracking down cyborg humans known as “Sims” which were so human like they actually were unaware that they weren’t actually humans (Scott, Fancher et al. 2007). These films come to mind because until the late 2000’s this was the closest we ever got to Artificial Intelligence…

Artificial intelligence is not just limited to an android having intelligence on par with a human, it can also be small nanoparticles that go into the human body to manipulate the endocrine system to help the body, and live as part of the body. In past events an artificial intelligence has beaten a Chess Grandmaster, and other games that require a large amount of intelligence. There was already many artificial intelligence that's been developed, and there are other artificial intelligence that are in the process of becoming useful to society. The thing is that we are close to achieving greatness with the development of artificial intelligence. Also as stated before artificial intelligence is not just limited to a robot, it can also be implemented to humans. One example would be nanoparticles being injected into us to make us healthier or to repair our cells from the inside. In the next thirty or so years we will look back on what we used to do in every field of study, and think to ourselves that we used to do such things. There is another side to this however, some of today’s scientist have come to the conclusion that artificial intelligence could bring the end of us, but this is no reason to stop the development of artificial intelligence to stop. There are plenty of other things that could end humanity, yet they are ignored. Such as research on nuclear weapons,…

The future is frightening according to the book The Circle, by Dave Eggers, and the movie Ex Machina, directed by Alex Garland. The Circle is about a woman, Mae Holland, who starts working The Circle. The Circle is a powerful tech company that creates an all-in-one password solution and transforms the Internet by pushing users to embrace their real names online. Mae quickly rises her way to the top by going transparent and having an inexpensive, high-quality camera around her neck that streams HD video to the Internet. The Circle offers a new age of honesty and crime-free living — all for the low, low-cost of personal privacy. The book is a satirical piece, but outlines serious problems we face today. The film Ex Machina, meanwhile, is a sci-fi…
