Railroad crossings are something that you will run into several times throughout driving and there are certain precautions that you should take to cross them safely. Trains often move very fast and won’t be able to stop for you so you must be very cautious when coming acrossthem. When approaching a railroad crossing it is very important to exercise caution.When approaching a railroad crossing you must slow down and if you are to park by a railroad crossing you may not park within 50 feet of the tracks. A good safety measure,however not needed, is to turn down the radio because trains always sound their horns when getting close to a crossing point so turning down the radio could help you locate the train. All railroad crossings should be taken serious because they could be very dangerous to you if you don’t treat them like a serious matter. As previously stated, trains won’t stop for you and your car will never win against a train. If you get hit by a train then you will be seriously injured and possibly die so treat them seriously.When approaching a railroad crossing there are many different warnings you will see. The sign that you will see is a circular sign with a yellow background and a black X that has “RR” written on it. Then on the road will be a marking very similar to the sign except it isn’t circular. When you arrive to the actual crossing you will see a sign that has two lights at the bottom and then above those two lights will be a sign stating how many tracks there are if there is more than one. Above both of those will be a big crossbuck that reads “railroad crossing.” When the lights below this sign are flashing then you MUST come to a complete stop! At some
