What Is Teddy Roosevelt's Speech
As there as been many presidents who have been shot, Theodore Roosevelt, was one of fourteen who have survived. Before becoming President Roosevelt went through many political positions. One day during his presidency, Roosevelt was on his way to give a speech and John Flammang Schrank shot at him, but the shot did not hit the president his speech stopped the bullet from hitting his body.
Starting at the beginning, Theodore Roosevelt was born on October 27, 1858, in New York City. Growing up in New York Roosevelt got interested in the New York politics, where he joined. But before everything political, Roosevelt was homeschooled until 1876, after finishing that schooling he had the opportunity to attend Harvard College. This attempt took place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, when Roosevelt was due for a speech at an auditorium filled with a crowd of people. The original speech he was supposed to read from had suppressed the impact of the bullet from killing him, even from that he was determined to finish his speech. He starts off the speech, “ Friends, I shall ask you to be as quiet as possible. I don’t know whether you fully understand that I have just been shot; but it takes more than that to kill a Bull Moose. But fortunately I had my manuscript, so you see I was going to make a long speech, and there is a bullet — there is where the bullet went through — and it probably saved from it going into my heart. The bullet is in me now, so that I cannot make a very long speech, but I will try my best.”The beginning was to calm people from what's happened to him and he told them not to worry as he was going to continue the speech. At age 10 he began to write a diary describing his adventures when he found creatures. He was interested in natural history and mostly studied birds. At age 12 he was still puny and an indoor boy so he started developing a chest and arms by lifting and boxing. In 1872, at the age of 18, he entered Harvard College and was the only child in the family to seek a higher education. He hoped to become a scientist. Theodore chose the life of the mind. In 1878, his father dies of peritonitis. The death of his father sent Theodore into a maelstrom. However, he went back to Harvard and led the Roosevelt family to be strong.     October 14, 1912 was when it happened. In Milwaukee, Wisconsin during his campaign speech, someone within the perimeter fired at the 26th president of the United States, Theodore Roosevelt. The scene underwent a thorough investigation the moment the crowd was out of reach, and investigators recovered a plethora of items that could possibly be linked to the death that followed not two days after this tragedy. The evidence included a large man’s jacket, which, while emptying the pockets, revealed also an elephant button, foreign coins, a picture of a catlike silhouette, a map of Chicago, a blank postcard from Lake Mohonk Mountain House, a picture of the ex-president taken in 1905, a receipt for a train ticket from Washington D.C., and most importantly, a note that read, “Thanks, my friends, I know we’re going to do it.” After many interrogations and hours spent trying to solve this murder mystery, the police investigators were led to believe it was not one person to blame for the loss, but four people. It was a conspiracy to kill an ex-president. The suspects in question are banker John Pierpont Morgan, President William Howard Taft, and anarchist Emma Goldman. These people are believed to be responsible because they all had different motives to want Roosevelt dead and out of the picture.
