What Is Synovial Fluid?
Synovial fluid is produced by the synovial membrane inside the articulation capsule. It is yellowish and oily, providing lubrication and padding for the joint surfaces. This fluid is also a source of nutrients for the hyaline cartilage, which covers the ends of the bones in joints. While the articulation capsule is keeping unwanted particles out of the joint, the synovial fluid is absorbing any debris within the capsule, produces by the friction of joint itself.
