What Is My Cultural Background
When looking into my cultural background there were a two factors that influenced me musically such as being told that music is not a real career and my parents divorced. Many people in my family believe that a music career is only blank to be played in middle or high school not to make a living doing it. Once you finish high school you are require to process a real career that earns you more money to take care of you family. I always remember my uncle, tell me that teaching music is not where the money is at, you should try nursing like most women do. How I see it nursing and music teaching aren’t very different from each other. A nursing requires you to take care of a person mental and physical needs. A career in music is similar in to nursing.

I actually found through marching band that I love working with kids. I used to visit nursing homes with my school’s community club and I loved visiting the seniors living there. These experiences have lead me to wanting to be a music therapist. Music has been proven to help motor skills and improve mood. I know from experience that music can really boost your mood. This year (for many reasons), was really tough for me. There was a period of time where I wasn’t really feeling like myself. I felt sad and tired too much, I was under a lot of stress, and just in general didn’t feel good about myself. During this period of time I also was listening to music a lot and I found that practicing was confidence booster. It gave me some feeling of success I wasn’t able to achieve anywhere else. It brought me to my own world where all I had to focus on was myself and the music. It was my way to escape and served as an outlet for whatever I was…

Music has played a significant role throughout my whole life. All throughout middle school and high school I have been a performer, participating in many different musical organizations including orchestra and choir. These personal experiences have broadened my interests in music. In middle school I was in choice voices, which was a special singing group for people who excelled in singing. When I went to high school I stayed in the same program and even became senior section leader of my choir, conducting different songs at our concert and being in charge of different performances. During my childhood I was part of the choir at my church, and performed during the different holiday masses.…

Singing in the choir, learning from the drummers and organ players I fell in love with the different grooves and sounds of different instruments. I joined percussion in junior high and with countless hours of practice and lots of tough love from Mr. Jones, my percussion instructor, I learned and practiced with about 20 instruments. The switch between instruments was almost like second nature earning me first chair in a class of about 40. Once in high school I began looking for a way to turn doing what I love into a career and my interest in music producing and engineering grew into a burning passion. Working with different artists and learning how to produce, mix and master vocals with various softwares, using different midi controllers, plugins etc has taught me many different ways to find sounds i like and turn them into art. Receiving recognition that thousands of human beings have taken the time out of their day to listen the art that you created is the best feelings in the world. Giving people something to relate to by painting a lyrical picture from a blank canvas is immortal. Henceforth after hours of online research I decided to try and take my skills and elevate them to a level where they are needed in society as a vital piece of the vastly growing music…

I was born into a mixed family much like Tiger's. My mother's father was Chinese-American, orphaned by his birth-family and raised in the South. My mother's mother was African-American and, following the family legacy, she received a degree from Fisk University in Nashville, TN. My relatives were instrumental in the foundation of the Avery Normal Institute in Charleston, SC, an educational institute for African-Americans founded in 1865 (now associated with the College of Charleston). My mother grew up in a segregated society where choices were rarely available. She received her Master's degree in Library Science from HBC University. My father's family is of German/Scottish/Irish/Danish decent. When faced with racial classification forms, I often check every box that is representative of my family history and the home in which I was raised - Black/African-American, Asian-American and Caucasian. Selecting only one box would be denying my family's ethnic mix.…

When I was very young my mother would play music for me and sing to me. My father would also play the drums very loudly so the entire neighborhood could hear. Due to the fact that I was brought up around so much talent and music appreciation, naturally I decided that I wanted music to be a large part in my life forever and I want to be able to share it with the world. When I was in elementary school I decided to join the choir. This was a big moment for me because music was what made me want to get up and live my life, it was always something to look forward to.…

I am proud to say, "I am a perfect blend of sweet and salty." My ethnic background consists of two; My dad being Salvadorian and my mom is Mexican, making me and my siblings quite the concoction of Hispanic blood. You would think because we are all in the Hispanic category our lives wouldn't be difficult since we speak Spanish, have the same characteristics, and usually, family traditions are or should be quite similar. Not completely, in this case, I recently found out that it isn't common for Salvadorians and Mexicans to get along because they both are just as proud and tough. In specifics, my mom always has given me the warm side of caring for others, being family oriented is important and giving is always better than receiving. My dad, on the other hand, was very dry in emotion he…
