What is Induction?
“Induction is the process by which the new recruit is familiarized with the working environment.” (Maimunah, 2008) An induction program is a plan for novices to get used to the working environment and as well as introducing them to their future colleagues. An induction program normally starts with a heartwarming introduction of the company.

During this process, the novices will be exposed to the company’s history, background and also operation. Furthermore, novices will also be introduced to employees so they can familiarize themselves to the company as soon as possible. Second, the novices will have to survey different areas in the company to gain knowledge of the company and if possible, understand the operation of the company.

Then, the novices will be brought to their working place and manuals will be given to them so they will know every detail they need in order to start their work. Next, the novices will be given details such as their salaries, benefits and incentives, holidays, leave and so on. Here, the supervisors will emphasize on the importance of attendance and punctuality and what kind of punishment will be situated if they fails to adhere to the rules.

After that, the HR department will then explain and provide certain important information regarding some training opportunities for hardworking and potential employees. After all these sections that the novices have gone through, they will now be able to clarify their doubts and ask question to solve their curiosity. After that, the novices will get themselves to go through a process called socialization, whereby newcomers begin to comprehend acknowledge the beliefs, norm and as well as values that the others are practicing. This process will help the novices to interact freely with each and everyone who is working in the company in order to know the ‘do and don’ts’.
