While the other children responded to me by talking when speaking about how the activity was done the child stared at me continuously and was quite distant and did not respond as much. This made me aware of the fact that it was harder for him to understand sentences with more than one element in it and I needed to keep my sentences short (Tassoni, 2006). Therefore i tried explaining how to do the activity by showing him, emphasising the important words and also talking in his home language as it was the same as mine to make it easy for him to comprehend.
