What Is Athena Role In The Odyssey
Odysseus is on a journey to return to his home and to his faithful wife, Penelope, in Ithaca after the fall of Troy. Additionally, the war took ten years and his journeys took another ten years. Therefore, it is unknown to the suitors that Odysseus is still alive. Consequently, Odysseus has to be careful and concerned for his own life while returning to his homeland from battle. In Addition, Athena, who is the daughter of Zeus, can be considered the protector of Odysseus throughout his journey. Furthermore, Athena comes from a land where she can travel and change her appearance and helps with disguise. Throughout the different episodes of the book, it is clearly evident that Athena protects Odyssey on his journey back to his homeland. Athena is the true reason that Odysseus succeeds, because she is always with him, gives him power, and gives him advice as her actions prove.
