What Is Anne Bradstreet's Role As A Woman
Have you ever read a poem where you can sense, feel, hear and even see what they are talking about? Those are the best kinds of poems, when the poet writes so vividly. That is exactly what Bradstreet did. She wrote with such emotion and passion. And that is what made the reading of her poems so much more fun. Anne Bradstreet was a very amazing poetic writer. She always brought her writing to life. She wrote about what happened in her world around her, the good and the bad. She mostly wrote about religious themes. She valued her writing, that is where she went when almost everything or anything came to mind. She was always thinking, and it was very important to her to be a women poet. With that being said, she was supposed to cook dinner for the family, keep the house clean, take care of the children, and to love them. Also that goes for every Puritan woman. Children was also a gift from God. They were a huge blessings in their lives. She cared and love her children and her husband so much. Being a woman writer in this time, was not considered a role for the women. People often put her down and criticized her. Women should be a housewife, not a poem writer. They reading, writing, and telling was the men’s job. It wasn’t right for the Puritan women to do so. In most of Bradstreet’s poems, she wanted to encourage the roles of a Puritan women. She wanted her writing to explain the beliefs that all of the women had on the inside. Anne Bradstreet had a wonderful husband and 8 amazing kids. All she wanted to do was to be able to write poetry and not be criticized. She wanted the other women to see that they can do this!
