What Is An Allegory In Lord Of The Flies
Lord Of The Flies is about a group of British boys who get stranded on a deserted island. They start as one whole group and then slowly disperse into two groups, with one being the “savages” and the other being the civilized group. Lord Of The Flies has many meanings hidden throughout the story some on a deeper level and others on a basic level, these hidden meanings are allegories. One allegory is that the scar left from the plane crash, is the boy's own impact on the world in which they live (The Island). In LOTF the boy’s represent the conflict between the “savages” and the more civilized group of people and how power makes an impact of the surrounding world. Human nature has not changed since the book release of Lord Of The Flies, due to inhuman behavior, power, and discrimination.

The author of LOTF wrote the book during the time period of the Cold War, a time period of nuclear threats and irrational people. The Cold War included two very different sides with different opinions, the U.S and the Soviet Union.The U.S and Soviet Union were allies during World War ll, but the tension grew overtime and they started to make threats of nuclear attacks. People began to build bomb shelters and practice attack drills just incase the tension broke, they were terrified of what could happen so the citizens began to prepare themselves. Golding used his life experience to help the readers understand what was going through Ralph and Jack’s head, by putting it into perspective.
