What I have learned that God is all that we need, when we need Him and the only thing that I must do is keep myself focused solely on Him and His will for my life.…
Life is like the beach. If the currents pull you in, you can either swim to safety or allow yourself to be pulled in and ultimately drown. Resilience is the capacity to bounce back after being in the face of a challenge and go on to live well. Every human on Earth faces a challenge and they decide if they want to conquer or be conquered. Tupac, Malala and Steven are all grand examples of humans who have overcame obstacles with a growth mindset and resilience.…
Resilience is our ability to adapt and bounce back when things don't go as planned. Judith Rodin defines five characteristics of resilience as being aware, diverse, integrated, self-regulating and adaptive. I will examine awareness and integrated because I find these two characteristics interesting and an essential aspect of resilience.…
Resilience is the ability to deal and adapt with the ups and downs such as trauma, tragedy and stress of life and how to deal with any setbacks that you may come across. However, being resilient does not mean that children or young people won't experience difficulty or distress within certain times of their life as emotional pain and experiencing sadness is a common emotion when we have suffered major trauma or personal loss. Research has shown that children and young people with high levels of self-esteem and self-confidence are likely to be more resilient to difficult situations and be better at dealing with life and circumstances as they get older. Resilience is based on children/young people having -: · Secure early attachments - Children…
Working in a hospital setting you see the struggles people face with faith, and you also see the power of faith. I feel I understand more of what a big role religion plays in healing not only the body but also the mind. Worldviews influences how I interact with the patients and their families, being accepting of their needs. I had a patient who is Catholic, and his family would come in after church to visit. His dad would give him communion in his room and would have me read what they went over in church that day. It was nice to see how religion can bring people together, and helped me understand how important it is not only to me, but…
The culture that encourages resiliency in their children is a Jewish tradition because they followed their teaching every parent had to teach their child how to swim. (Mogel 3/43) However, the parents prepared their children to face their future meaningful, as they are going to leave their parents and start their own lives; it was difficult for them at first, but the children got used after sometimes. This can be applied to the children who are starting to walk and move few steps and fall continue until they are able to walk properly. In my culture, we believe that resiliency was a primary concern for the children because children are taught different activities like cooking, farming, prayers, cutting firewood, sent to the market/shop and going…
When I think of a resilient person, what comes to mind is someone who can face the obstacles in their life head-on. These people can keep their cool when disaster strikes. Resilient people are able to utilize their skills and strengths to cope and recover from problems and challenges. There are various degrees of setbacks in our lives, some bigger or smaller than others. How we learn to cope and deal with these setbacks not only will attribute our outcome, but also our psychological mindset. Being a resilient person is not always a inborn trait, it can be a learned trait by practicing with the changes or setbacks life puts in front of you.…
Where there is a will there is a way is an extraordinary article on how to preserver in life and work. Resilience has the potential to help an individual to live a happy and fulfilled life. (Harrington,2012) Overcoming some obstacles in my life has made me more aware of all the things that I might have missed out on, and the things that I am determined to accomplish for myself. I have now set goals and work to accomplish them with keeping my will forefront in my determination.…
America is growing old fast. Approximately 10% of our country is currently 60 years or older and by 2050 nearly a fourth of our citizens will be elderly (Kaplan et al., 2008). This presents a specific category of Americans with unique challenges. In a comprehensive review of research from 1978 through 2005, it was determined that only one third of the elderly are considered to be successful agers (Kaplan et al., 2008). This means two thirds of our elderly are struggling with the aging process. Society is obligated to address the needs associated with this struggling group that will assist them in living healthy well-adjusted lives. It is in everyone’s best interest to facilitate their independence and allow them to continue to contribute to society in a productive way rather than become a burden that requires limited resources to manage. Understanding risk factors and protective mechanisms used by elderly individuals that have achieved successful aging can help design preventative practices that will enable similar beneficial outcomes.…
Resiliency is an important factor to have present in one’s life. Taking this resiliency quiz opened my eyes to how I am not as resilient as I thought I was. Some of the question asked in this quiz made me assess my own culture, such as gender and sexual orientation. A crucial part of being resilient is realizing what protective factors are present in one’s life. Many of the factors surprised me because I did not even know they were considered protective factors. Identifying the resiliency builders I would like to add to my repertoire was easy because a majority of those builders are not present in my everyday, and I would like to change that. However, I know it is going to be difficult to add these into my life. The resiliency framework is used in all aspect of social work. I decided to use it to promote resiliency in people with eating disorder. It is important for a person to have great environment protective factors so that they know…

This semester of Christian Worldview has been beneficial for me learning more about all different types of worldviews. I started this class with a Christian background but a clean slate of not knowing what my true worldview really was. As I went through the semester, I gained tons of new knowledge to help me understand how my opinions matched with the different worldviews.…

On a semi-irrelevant note (depending on how you comprehend it), I have learned that the lack of choices makes you a better person or to put it more…
Because I grew up in a Christian home, my struggles have thankfully not been as severe as those that other students in this class may have endured. Nevertheless, my experiences have shaped who I am and how I relate to God. God has taught me, and continues to teach me, more about my personality and sin struggles through the valleys He has brought me through, but I will limit my comments to just a few key points I believe He is trying to make in my…
