What Does It Mean To Be A Citizen
By definition, citizenship means a participatory member of a political community. A nation grants certain rights and privileges to its citizens. In return, citizens is expected to obey their country's laws and defend it against its enemies. Higher education, by definition, means education beyond high school, specifically college, graduate school, and professional school. If one has citizenship in country, one has the right to live there, work, vote, and pay taxes. So how is citizenship and education related? Being a citizen means paying taxes. One must have a job to meet that requirement and a good paying job to have a decent life. In order to have a good paying job, one would need to have a higher education. A job is needed to pay taxes and to have a decent living life to provide for one's family. Jobs could be easier to obtain when having a higher education. Lewis and Zaidane said " 53% of recent college graduates are either unemployed or not putting their degree to use." "When the economy picks up the job market is more likely to become competitive." (pg 587). Which means someone who has a degree will be more likely to get the opening job opportunity rather than a person who has no degree,

Which includes political parties, politicians, and legislature. The new generation who is becoming adults now, will be the future america. Therefore each person should educate themselves or be educated.
