What concerns me about the world
What concerns me about the world?

There are many things that concern me about the world; there is poverty, war, and fighting over objects while there is no respect for the people. Our society has its views and mentality backwards, “People were made to be loved. Things were made to be used. The reason why the world is in chaos is because things are being loved, and people are being used.” (Unkown) I question the world powers, United States, Russia, United Kingdom, France, People 's Republic of China, India, Pakistan have over us, the power to play with lives, to save a million lives or allow them to die depending on their reason and judgment, to charge for a lifesaving vaccine, to assassinate who they want, to end the planet in a nuclear war. Everything now a day has a cost; you can’t ask anyone for a favor without them expecting something in return.
When did we have to worry about going out to the movies and wonder if it might be our last day because some lunatic may come in and shoot up the place? Why can’t we hold a marathon or a charity without someone blowing up the place? Why do some people have to be racist, and hold a whole race accountable for a couple of people’s actions? Why can’t people sit on a plane without worrying if that Arabic guy, or that one middle-eastern guy with the turban will blow up the plane? Why is the world so ignorant of the fact you can’t hold a whole race accountable for a couple of people’s actions. The United States of America has an example of all of these events, for instance during World War II we committed genocide on a whole Asian group into concentration camps for the war, for the reason they may be spies.
It concerns me that we, people of the United States, need an excuse to start a war for selfish reason, the main reason being oil. When did we stop fighting for the right reason? We used to stand up for what was right; we fought for moral reason we passed laws, struck down laws, for moral reason. We waged wars on

“The opposite of love is not hate, it’s indifference.” This quote by Elie Wiesel says a lot. Indifference is dangerous. We have a moral responsibility to help others most of the time. There are moments where it’s okay to be indifferent. This moral responsibility that we have is important to keep our indifference in check. We have a moral responsibility to help right the wrongs in the world but to an extent.…

We are living in a time of violence and hatred toward other races instead of taking the time to learn about the uniqueness and diversity of their cultures. Political greed of some of our modern leaders has taken priority over helping their nations people and economies. What could possibly have influenced us so greatly as to generate this anger and hostility amongst our own kind? Are we willing to cause the suffering of others to establish our own nations supremacy? When did we stop caring who or how our governments are run? Do we even care what is happening in the broken world around us or are we too focused on our own greed? Adolf Hitler convinced a whole nation that his intentions were good. Consider where that led Germany. Our world is not…

This story begins with the introduction of the idea that America, or white America specifically, believes itself to be exempt from the racial issues it has caused. It cites the many examples where non-whites have been thrown about violently in order for white Americans to gain social and cultural control over them. There are a few different reasons given for why we can be so blind to these atrocities. They all fall into the category of groupthink, where people don’t realize what they are doing is wrong, simply because everyone around them is…

Throughout the history United States has come across a lot of different situations in which we are either pushed to declare war against another country because we were threatened or we do it because we feel the necessity to save that other country from their enemy. Probably one of the biggest instances was after the September 11 terrorist attack in New York city. After this happened president Bush sent out troops to Afghanistan and declare war against them. In another note a more recent event was the Libyan attack known as: Operation Odyssey Dawn. It 's only purpose was to enforce a no-fly zone and to prevent the Libyan 's from attacking their own citizens. In 2012 troops were deployed to the border of Jordan and Syria to help contain the civil war that was happening within the border of Syria.…

This week global social problem continues to deals with the environment this week we will be looking at Japan and the Fukushima nuclear power plant spill that they had back in 2011. One would ask what does a power plant spill that happened three years ago has to do with the rest of the world? It becomes a global social problem when the leak is starting to spread through the Pacific Ocean and neighboring countries. “The Japanese government has finally asked for global aid to stem radioactive leaks entering the Pacific Ocean, which is endangering the world’s food supply and ecosystems”. Japan is one of the world largest consumer and exporter of fish; they export 1.6 billion dollars in fish yearly. When fish is one of your main staple in food this does not only impact what you are going to eat but also the amount of money circulating around your country. Appadurai’s scapes is one that I will be using yet again; to begin we have the finance scape due to the spill affecting the ocean and the wild life there the amount of fish that Japan would export and also the amount that the Japanese people would consume decreases because of the food being contaminated. Another one of his scapes would be media scape because of globalization we have access to new reports much faster than we did in the past; because of this advancement more people around the world knows about this situation and because of that more and more researches are pressing Tepco to give clear information about what is really going on with the water. With the advancement that we have in technology the Japanese people are able to make storage tanks that hold water that is supposed to cool the…
