With Thanksgiving days away, there are three things that are absolutely certain: time with family, football and food, most importantly.
According to the United States Department of Agriculture, over 51 million turkeys will be consumed on Thanksgiving Day this year. Some may choose the traditional oven-roasted turkey, while others will choose to deep fry it.
Risk Management and Department of Public Safety would like to remind all DFW employees and their families to know the dangers of turkey fryers and to exercise extreme caution to ensure a safe and fun holiday.

They are very popular for Thanksgiving. Many parts of the country may have rain or snow at this time of year. If rain or snow hits the hot cooking oil, the oil may splatter or turn to steam, leading to burns.

• Turkeys must be completely thawed before placing in the fryer, because a partially thawed turkey will cause the oil to splatter causing serious burns.
