Fast forward to one month ago, when I along with my fellow six varsity teammates lead Hammonton to its first Atlantic County Championship in school history. While much of my improvement can be attributed to my physical growth over the years, I would have never reached that level of success if I did not realize how important it is to maximize my effort in everything that I do. My success in Cross Country was not as much caused by my physical development, but more so by the evolution of my mentality.…

This was a small, ten week study with twelve participants. The children trained three times a week, at the conclusion of the ten week were tested based on a three kilometer run. The results showed that resistance training can enhance the aerobic power of the young athletes (2015). This, along with other studies, provides proof that resistance training can aid in making children faster. With resistance training giving young athletes the opportunity to be both faster and stronger it is only expected that these children would be better at their sports than their other untrained children. This is because that with increased speed and strength the children who are trained are able to “learn proper technique more rapidly and progress at a faster rate than their counterparts” (Pierce et al., 2009). The ability of learn sports skill fasted than other children give the ones who do resistance training a large leg up on the competition. Research shows that children who part take in resistance training are, athletically, better, faster and…
