What Are The 5 Major Prophets
The five books of major prophet are Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel and Daniel. The term prophet is referred to an anointed person inspired or called to practice and write about God’s word. In this essay, the five books of major prophet mentioned above will be evaluated as well as what they wrote, their callings and their walk with God.
The first book of the major prophet is the book of Isaiah. The book of Isaiah is a book of judgment and revelation and has 66 chapters. The name Isaiah means the Lord is salvation and the book starts with a vision that the prophet Isaiah saw about Judah and Jerusalem (The Bible, Isaiah 1:1). The book of lamentation is about the destruction of Jerusalem. It is a book of sorrow and despair. The prophet Jeremiah tried everything so that the people can repent, but instead they chose to ignore his messages and continue in their old ways. As a result, destruction occurred and they had to pay the prices of their wrongdoings. In this book, he thinks about the past and how suffering occurred because they chose to disobey the Lord.
The fourth book of the major prophet is the book of Ezekiel. Prophet Ezekiel was the son of Buzi and wrote the book of Ezekiel. The name Ezekiel means the Lord strengthens and the book was written around 571 B.C.
He started prophesizing at Tel-Abib and continued his ministry for 20 years. Most of his messages were addressed to the exiles about their sins and how they chose to ignore what the Lord wanted from them. This book is about judgment, restoration and hope. The prophet Daniel is the author of this book. It has 12 chapters and it was written between 540-530 B.C. Part of the book is about his captivity in Babylon under King Nebuchadnezzar and another part of it about his prophetic journey. Daniel served in the court of King Nebuchadnezzar and often interpreted his dreams. The Lord often used Daniel to interpret dreams.
